DREAM OF A HIGH MOUNTAIN

DREAM OF A HIGH MOUNTAIN

Dear Holy Guru,

Recently we here in Australia have experienced the federal election (election of Prime Minister). Same Prime Minister of previous government Scott Morrison has won the election and kept the position of Prime Minister of Australia. Seeing the run for the position of the Prime Minister, I happened to remember the wish I had got when I was still studying at University. Like many people, I wanted to be a rich and successful person and have a comfortable life. I tried my best to find a good job but I failed. I have ever sunk in the miserable days in the dark and freezing nights of my life. I was not confident in myself. I felt so unhappy to live in this life. I blame myself for all failure. At that time, it is my inferiority complex killed myself and I could not find out the reason for my life. I did not know that the reason for the situation in my present life resulted from the bad karma I have done in the past life as the Buddha’s teachings in the Cause and Effect Sutra it goes:

“Effect: Why in this life you have clothing in great variety?

Cause: Because you have donated warm clothing to true spiritual teachers in your previous life.

Effect: Why in this life you have splendid food?

Cause: Because you have donated food to the poor in your previous life.

Effect: Why in this life you are starving and clothless?

Cause: Because you were to stingy to donate to charity in your previous life.

Effect: Why in this life you are prosperous and happy?

Cause: Because you have donated money to support the shelters for the true Buddhists in your previous life.

Effect: Why in this life you are pretty and handsome?

Cause: Because you respectfully offered flowers to the Buddha’s altar in your previous life.

Effect: Why in this life you are so intelligent and wise?

Cause: Because you were a devout Buddhist in your previous life.”

My life was changed when I accessed the website of chanhtuduy.com and read about the Guru’s articles.

My name is Tantra Sagovana. I am Australian-Pakistani, being Pakistani in origin but have lived in Australia for most of my life. I have been practicing Dharma under the guidance of Guru since last year 2018.

When I was new to Buddhism I had many misunderstandings and confusions. Under Guru’s guidance they have been removed although I am still learning as it is a life-long journey. The Buddha said all his teachings have one taste, the taste of liberation. Guru is the one who guides us on this path of liberation to the ultimate goal of Enlightenment.

Guru is the teacher and master in spiritual tradition which is Pure Mind Yoga. Although Pure Mind Yoga is originating from Vajrayana Buddhism’s Nyingma tradition, Guru who is a native of the S-shaped country Vietnam where UN Day of Vesak has been held multiple times explains that Dharma must be consistent with the factors of age, country and ethnicity. To this end he has introduced his 6 marvellous practices which are suitable for busy lay people in this modern age. They are:

Eight Dharma methods of taking refuge in the Three Jewels

Uninterrupted offerings

Samayagdrsti-Praha Samadhi

Lotus walking Dharani

Meditation on Bodhicitta

Five degrees of Chenrezig mediation and Dharani

Guru has Invented his 6 marvellous practices through surveying and scientific methods. These 6 marvellous practices help his followers to achieve happiness and success both in this life and the next life. One of these 6 practices is reading and commenting on articles on Guru’s website chanhtuduy.com which is a modern-day Vimalakirti room containing library of vast Dharma teachings and is infused with blessings of Guru. These articles cover a large range of Dharma topics including Buddhist philosophy, psychology, history, analytics etc.

Guru has clarified that Buddhism is a science of the mind, not a mere religion. Through his articles Guru teaches the pure and right Dharma which is unlike the superstition polluted Dharma taught in some pagodas and temples.Guru has cleared my misconceptions about diet and sitting meditation. I am content with my food, I eat meat but am not attached to it and am not particularly attached to either meat or vegetarian food. Guru has explained that meditation is essentially non-distracted mindfulness and we must practice Dharma non-stop throughout the day. Instead of doing sitting meditation I try to stay mindful and apply mindfulness throughout the day, and I read and comment on Guru’s articles. As well my media diet has also improved and become more balanced. Until the beginning of this year I would spend most of my free time watching cartoons. Now I watch mostly documentaries and also read more books and intellectual articles.

Guru’s articles explain that Dharma practitioners must avoid the 8 worldly winds as well as 14 grievous failures mentioned by Gampopa, and that we must study right Dharma teachings and practice Dharma using right methods. Guru taught us that we should only show devotion and worship to enlightened ones, not brahmas, devas, asuras, nagas and other beings stuck in Samsara.

We are allowed to enjoy worldly pleasures but should not be over-attached to or abuse worldly pleasures and we should remain in Dharma orbit. We should avoid Dharma attachment which is using Dharma practice to boost our ego, also called spiritual materialism. “Dharma is life, life is Dharma” is Guru’s teaching which means that we should live our worldly life fully while practicing Dharma and Dharma practice must be applied throughout our worldly life. We must have a balance of worldly effort (social life and career) and spiritual effort

Guru’s teachings when practiced diligently and sincerely will bring spiritual and worldly happiness and success in this life and pure bliss and happiness in Western Pure Land of Amitabha (Sukhavati) in next life. I myself now understand that right view is the most important to lead me to the good deeds for a better life this life and being born in the Pure Land next life, especially the right view and pure perspective to Guru because Guru devotion is the foundation and the source for the worldly success and spiritual achievement.  As long as I have learnt Vajrayana, I get more understanding that “A good spiritual friend who will help us to stay on the path, with whom we can discuss our difficulties frankly, sure of a compassionate response, provides an important support system which is often lacking. Although people live and practice together, one-upmanship often comes between them. A really good friend is like a mountain guide. The spiritual path is like climbing a mountain: we don’t really know what we will find at the summit. We have only heard that it is beautiful, everybody is happy there, the view is magnificent and the air unpolluted. If we have a guide who has already climbed the mountain, he can help us avoid falling into a crevasse, or slipping on loose stones, or getting off the path. The one common antidote for all our hindrances is noble friends and noble conversations, which are health food for the mind.” by Ayya Khema.

Thank you so much,  the holy Guru for your compassion and kindness to guide me on the path to enlightenment. I am so fortunate to be one of your learners. I am so proud to have the name Tantra Sagovana under your guidance.

On the occasion of the great and blessed day of Guru Day,  I would like to express my deep gratitude towards Guru from the bottom of my heart for your compassionate teachings. I know that I am not good enough to be your learner, it is your bodhichitta and your vast compassion which bestow on me such wonderful and noble position of a member at Song Nguyen Tantra House.

May you and your consort have a good health and live long for the sake of all sentient beings.

I truthfully bow my head before your lotus feet and pray for your blessings bestowing on me so as to keep me on the path to pure bliss.

May all sentient beings be free from suffering and obtain the happiness of Buddha’s nature.

Om Mani Padme Hum.

    Dear Holy Guru,

    My name is Tantra Sagovana.

Thank you for posting my article “A few thoughts on Guru Day” which I have written on this occasion of Guru Day to show my gratitude and appreciation to Guru for guiding me on the spiritual path.

I am honoured to be a follower of Guru even though I know I am not good enough to have this honour.

May Guru and Guru’s consort have good health and live long for the sake of all sentient beings.

May all sentient beings be free from suffering and obtain the happiness of Buddha’s nature.

    Dear Tantra Sagovana,

I am happy to read your article written on the great occasion of the Guru Day. It is another learner who get successful in life after praticing pure mind yoga. I am so delighted to read the beautiful articles by international learners sharing their thoughts,  experiences after praticing pure mind yoga under Guru’s guidance and showing their gratitude to Guru on this special occasion.

I like the way to describe the path of liberation like climbing to the mountain. We have already known that there is a beautiful and peaceful place on the top of the mountain but how to clim to the top is the main factor. If we follow the one who have never climbed to the summit,  there may be some problems happening unexpectedly and we do not know how to solve such problems. Luckily,  we have our Guru who has known very clearly about the mountain and he knows the way to climb to this mountain clearly. So that he created 6 means known as 6 marvelous methods for us to get the mountain quickly and easily. He has already pave the clean,  large and beautiful path for us to walk on it. What we need to do is to follow his instructions and his words like reading and commenting with the devotion,  then we can get the top of the mountain as we wish.

As far as I know,  reading and commenting is the great invention in this 4.0 technological age. Because through reading and commenting,  we can connect with the pure mind of Guru which helps us purify our mind to go to the city of liberation. We only stay at home to connect with Guru. How amazing it is. In Vajrayana,  Guru plays the most important role for practitioners to get the enlightenment and  Guru devotion is the key. The top of the mountain can be easy to get. The importance is our attitude and diligence in practicing Guru devotion.

Thank you so much for your sharing.

May Guru and his consort have a good health and live long for the sake of all beings.

May Tantra Sagovana ‘s righteous wish come true soon due to your diligence in practicing pure mind yoga.

May pure mind yoga spread every corner in the world for the happiness and peacefulness of all beings.

May all sentient beings achieve the happiness of the Buddha ‘s nature.

    Om Mani Padme Hum.

    Dear Tantra Sagovana,

I am happy to read your letter “Dream of a high mountain”. I rejoice in the good deeds of you, who wrote meaningful and helpful sharing with expressing your deep devotion towards holy Guru on occasion of Guru Rinpoche Day. I highly appreciate your devotion towards Guru and the treasuring of the Dharma. Thank you so much for your sharing.

After reading your writing, I have more clearly understood that we are so fortunate because we have a chance to meet holy Guru and learn Pure Mind Yoga from him in this life. It is a golden chance for us to connect with pure spiritual field of Guru, Buddhas which helps us keep balance in mind, have Right Viewcollecting merit and wisdom eventhough we are having a family life with many worldly activities. We can enjoy every moment at present and live a happy life due to Guru’s 6 marvellous practices; and enjoy happiness at present in this life and get the great bliss in Pure Land in next life.

I like your idea of “The spiritual path is like climbing a mountain: we don’t really know what we find at summit. We have  only heard that it is beatiful, everyone is happy there, the view is magnificient and the air unpolluted. If we have a guide who has already climbed the mountain, he can help us avoiding falling into crevasse, or slipping on loose stones, or getting off the pasth”. As the great spiritual guide, holy Guru with his compassion, kindness and wisdom guide you and all of us on the path to Enlightenment.

Dear Holy Guru, on the occation of this special Guru Day, from the bottom of my heart, I would like to express my deep gratitude towards Holy Guru. May Holy Guru and his consort have a good health and live long for sake of all sentient beings. May Pure Mind Yoga spread all around the world to benefit all beings.

May Tantra Sagovana have good health and achieve all of righteous wishes. I’m looking for your new articles in “Vimalakirti Room”chanhtuduy.com.

    Dear Holy Guru,

My greetings to you and all the readers of chantuduy. com

It has been so nice to have read the article for it shows the same thing for me. I’ve been in a hardship before having my self one among the disciples of the holy Guru. I was in a point where almost all the corners of my mind has been accommodated with a lot of questions about life that turns most of time and days spent into confusion. Until such one wonderful moment came in when I happened to get in touch with a friend in the person whose name is Matt Dieu Hanh through messenger. She made the bridge that takes me to the path of getting nearer to Buddhism and finally be touched with the words of wisdom of the Holy Guru. Little by little I was able to fill up the blanks in my mind with understanding through the guidance of the Holy Guru.

At this point of time less and less confusion, smoothly I am moving my feet towards enlightenment of my questions and confusions. I would like to give my honorable gratitude to the Holy Guru who has been so wonderful in giving his guidance to his disciples.

May all of us beings be in a life of peace and love as we travel the path towards enlightenment.

    Dear Tantra Sagovana!

I would like to express my delight to read what you have shared in this article.

It is good to hear that the positive things have come to your life since you become a learner of holy Guru. I also find some part of mine in your story as i used to think being rich and fame would consider as successful factors in a person life. However, thanks to holy Guru’s teaching, I found out that a person life would go according to the karma that he or she did in the past lives following the law of Cause – Effect. Also, thanks to holy Guru’s instruction, finding the balance in mind, have right view and nurture devotion toward the holy Guru are important factors, which we should take good consideration in our mind. And we should not compare ourselves to anyone, instead of that we should find and going back to our inner selves, to see how ourselves in this present become better in the past. As Lama Zopa’s saying: “Only the practice of Dharma can remove or prevent the cause of one’s own negative karma while create the cause of one’s own happiness”. I believe by taking strong devotion and faith to the holy Guru’s teaching, anyone in all over the world can achieve true happiness in their life and also see the light in the path of Enlightenment and Liberation.

Thank you Tantra Sagovana for sharing such bright article. It has motivated us to keep going forward on the path to liberation under the holy Guru’s guidance.

May the Holy Guru and his consort have good health and live long for the sake of all sentient beings.

I have highly impressed by your comparison of the difficulties, struggle and the right path to be guided  by  Guru to reach the goal of Enlightenment and Liberation to that of  various difficulties we encounter in climbing a high Mountain.

As we climb  higher and higher altitudes, no doubt the air is pollution free as you said, but also due to reduction in life saving oxygen percentage  we soffocate in breathing and hence a Mountain climber has to carry an oxygen bag on his back to sppliment and survive . That  oxygen bag is Guruji in the Spiritual field !.

I am a life long vegan out of love and compassion. Is being

done so. Should I only practice vipasanna meditation?

i learned everything I know about Buddhism and nefition

  26. Dear Tantra Sagovana

I take delight in reading your sharing about changes in your life since you’ve met Guru and stepped in the door of holy Dharma. Your sharing reminds me of a teaching of Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche that: “No one wants to suffer, but despite our best efforts, we still have to suffer. So we need someone to guide us how to free from suffering”. Yes, people, rich or poor, old or young, all have their own sufferings. How tragic it is not to find out a Guru who would show us the way out of suffering and defilements. I myself feel lucky to meet Guru in this life with his six marvelous spiritual practices, which can help me obtain inner happiness and success in life. Hence, I feel happy for you for seeing drastic changes in your mind as all misunderstandings or misconceptions about Buddhism or more deeply, about your outlook of life or phenomena have been changed positively. We finally can see the light in the end of the tunnel. That light is likened to the mountain guide – a metaphor in your article I like very much – that keeps us on the right path during the risky journey of climbing a high mountain. Likewise, the light of Bodhicitta and wisdom of our Guru will keep us on the right track from now till the ultimate end of liberation. Thank you for your great sharing on the occasion of Guru’s Day.

  28. Dear Tantra Sagovana,

I am delighted to read your sharing on the occasion of Guru Rinpoche’s day.  I am happy to know that thanks to the Holy Guru’s teachings, the connection via chanhtuduy.com, your mind has been changed in positive way. It leads to a fact that your life also is being improved. I liked the imagine you used, when we can meet a Guru and follow his instruction, it looks like we have a guide who already climbed the mountain. Thanks to his wisdom and experiences, he could help us to avoid falling into a crevasse. More than that, he could take us to the right way in order to we can reach to the top of mountain. Obviously, without Holy Guru, his Bodhicitta and compassion the ordinary people like us never can do it.

Thank you for your article. I look forward to receiving your sharing in the future.

May Holy Guru and his consort live long for the sake of sentient beings
May all sentient beings could achieve happiness of Buddhahood.
    Om ah hum.
