A LOTUS FLOWER WITH SIX PETALS – PART II (Sáu cánh sen trong một bông sen – phần 2)

A LOTUS FLOWER WITH SIX PETALS – PART II (Sáu cánh sen trong một bông sen – phần 2)

Those are factors that brightens the wisdom of Song Nguyen Tantra House. The readers enable themselves to connect with the Guru’s mind and integrates themselves into the light of wisdom with 4 mentioned aspects in the article part I while readingchanhtuduy.com. For that reason, the audience shall be equipped with the Buddhism’s right views and the foundation of the Buddha’s teachings as taught in the Threefold Lotus Sutra, the Right View chapter 24th regarding four practices that help improve the wisdom as follows:

“1) True practitioner is someone who practices the Buddha’s right views but not wrong views. That is the very first method to terminate the ignorance and generate the wisdom.

2) In case of inquiring the external religion’s scriptures, it is necessary to keep a pure mind which does not lead yourself to be trapped. This is the second method to terminate the ignorance and generate the wisdom.

Lotus Flower Estrade in Song Nguyen Tantra House

3) Shariputra, knowing there are people tend to be determined in affirming their voices. Then it is necessary to keep a pure mind and stay away from them. In case of being attached with them, only Buddhist topic should be discussed and never mention other stuffs in order to reinforce the decisiveness. That is the method to accompany with them. Moreover, keep fighting all the wrong views and maintain the harmonious relationship between Dharma brothers. That is the third method to terminate the ignorance and generate the wisdom.

4) Shariputra, closing to the superior teachings and making himself to immediately practice Dharma right after listening to the Buddha’s teachings. The person who help to propagate the Buddha’s teachings is part of reason that maintain the value of Buddhism. That is the fourth method to terminate the ignorance and generate the wisdom. Those are four methods in total. Bodhicitta practice is the practice with profound shamefulness and maintain the commandments without create more great deal of bad karma. Bodhicitta practice is maintaining a diligent schedule practice without any weariness and an unfearful mind.

Besides, the readers also start practicing Dharma while they are reading and leaving comments onchanhtuduy.com. In “The Letter to Disciples No 80: A few words onchanhtuduy.com”, our Guru once explained: “When I lay all my mind power, knowledge and mental power into the wording of the articles on chanhtudy.com, I created a bridge that connects directly to your mind. That is definitely a good way for you to accumulate the merit”. Then why does reading articles onchanhtuduy.com can help you to accumulate the merit? Because this is one of ten Dharma activities which is called “Dharma listening” (Sound hearer). Though the articles were not heard by the ears exactly but by the audience’s eyes, there is no difference between both senses because they are both working to analyze the teachings with functions that are not able to be distinguished.

Moreover, the Tripitaka doctrine is composed of billions of words, it may take more than a lifetime to finish reading. Not to mention about the comprehension of those words that obtains lots of advanced meaning. The articles on chanhtuduy.com was written in an easier way for the audience to understand and this make Buddhism comes closer to present regime, age and nation development. Meanwhile, the Guru has successfully applied the method called Communication which is one of five Buddha’s sciences in order to deliver the Buddha’s teachings throughout many Letters, intensive articles and writings, etc. The writings were expressed in a way that can meet many different readers’ reading capacity. That is the reason why chanhtuduy.com can be considered as a house in the middle of a field. The reader from every social standard can earn benefits from reading articles onchanhtuduy.com. The benefit even multiplies by times when the readers come back exploring the other sides of the articles’ meanings. That also helps to improve the readers and the disciples’ Buddhist capacity as the merit has been accumulated and the wisdom that has been generated.

hoa senSimilarly, every comment onchanhtuduy.com is compared as “beating gong”, it is one of ten Dharma practice activities which is “Dharma sharing”. While reading and leaving a comment, you will accumulate same amount of merit whether it is short or long. Just in case that comment is to express your enjoyment for the Guru and other’s good deeds. This has been confirmed in the seven branches vow: “With a heart full of delight, I rejoice at all the merits of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, Pratyekabuddhas. Those in training and the arhats beyond training. And every living being, throughout the entire universe”.  The enjoyment that is being expressed toward others’ good deeds is the root of virtue. For instance, in the time of Prasenajit King, he suggested to provide offerings to the Buddha and all the monks by full accommodation in his imperial palace for one month. There was an old woman living in the same city also hold in high esteem toward the Buddha. By her highest respect, she keeps musing over deep thoughts joyfully that: “It is marvelous that the King has such a precious chance to accumulate an imaginable merit amount!”. The Buddha has full enlightenment so he knows it. After finishing one-month course at the palace, the Buddha transferred the merit to that old woman which makes everyone presented so surprised.

Besides, every new comment will be updated on the homepage and will be generally sharing to other people which help to generate the merit like transferring from F1 generation to F2 generation. The superiority of this method is that the merit shall be multiplied by times according to the number of people “practicing” at the same time. Our guru played the role of the narrator in the article named “The magical sparkle between Dharma practice and Life” which was written by Dharma brother Mat Nga (http://chanhtuduy.com/su-ao-dieu-cua-thong-dao-phap-va-thong-gian/)

anh sângIn particular, if a person practice Dharma by her/himself (reading – leaving comment) can earn an amount of merit is 100; that amount will be automatically increased 10 times (1000) if there are 10 people also practicing at the same time. Then, in case the website hits reach 10.000 or even 1 million, how will the merit be multiplied? This leads to massive kind of merit resonance on Chanhtuduy.com, a modern “Vimalakirti room” that can make space for a limitless number of people. As long as we are on the same page – keep practicing “Samyagdrsti-Prabha Samadhi” together by “reciting the Buddhist sutra – beating gong” regularly.

Those are the superior features of the method which is also described as “ease and swiftness” of “Samyagdrsti-Prabha Samadhi”! Is it possible for other millions Buddhist websites to achieve the same thing? I am afraid it is extremely hard to do it. Because chanhtuduy.com was built by three vows of our Guru which was mentioned in the articles “Letter to Disciples No 80: A few words on chanhtuduy.com” (http://chanhtuduy.com/a-few-words-on-chanhtuduy-com/). Meanwhile, more than 1200 articles and nearly 100 lectures on the website have been represented for “six petals” – six marvelous method of Song Nguyen Tantra House. It is also the representation of the six-syllable Mantra Om Mani Padme Hum flower. It is the obvious proof for our Guru’s wisdom whom “all the Buddhas of the past, present and future residing in every land in the ten directions, have paid homage to the Tantric Masters from whom they have received the highest empowerments” due to the teaching of Master Asvagosha. There are more of rare and unprecedented factors which our Dharma brother Mat Nga mentioned in the articles named “The magical sparkle between Dharma practice and Life”

Then, I happened to think of the reply of a heavenly being, a goddess, in Vimalakirti’s room in response to the Shariputra’s question on her preferable vehicle:

“Shariputra asked the goddess, “Of the three vehicles, which do you pursue?”

The goddess replied, “I use the Law of the voice-hearer to convert living beings, and therefore I practice the way of the voice-hearer. I use the Law of causes and conditions to convert living beings, and therefore I practice the way of the pratyekabuddha. I use the Law of great pity to convert living beings, and therefore I practice the Great Vehicle.

Lotus Flower Estrade in Song Nguyen Tantra House

“Shariputra, when one enters a grove of champak trees, one smells only the odor of the champak and does not smell any other odor. And in the same way, when one enters this room, one smells only the fragrance of the Buddha blessings but takes no delight in smelling the fragrance of the voice-hearer’s or the pratyekabuddha’s blessings.

“Shariputra, I have been staying in this room for twelve years and never from the first have I heard any expounding of the Law of the voice-hearer or the pratyekabuddha. I have heard only of the great compassion and great pity of the bodhisattva, the Law of the Buddha that is beyond comprehension.

“Shariputra, this room constantly manifests eight rare and unprecedented phenomena. What are these eight?

  1. This room is constantly flooded with rays of golden light that never change, day or night. It is not lit by the shining of the sun or moon. This is the first rare and unprecedented phenomenon.
  2. “Those who enter this room are never troubled by defilements. This is the second rare and unprecedented phenomenon.
  3. “In this room Brahmas, Indras, Four Heavenly Kings, and bodhisattvas from other regions constantly come together in a gathering that never ends. This is the third rare and unprecedented phenomenon.
  4. “In this room there is constant exposition of the six paramitas and the unregressing wheel of the Law. This is the fourth rare and unprecedented phenomenon.
  5. “In this room heavenly beings constantly make superlative music, and from their strings come forth the sounds of immeasurable Dharma persuasions. This is the fifth rare and unprecedented phenomenon.
  6. “In this room are four great storehouses stacked high with varied treasures to relieve the destitute and rescue those in want, a supply to be drawn on yet never exhausted. This is the sixth rare and unprecedented phenomenon.
  7. “When this great man turns his thoughts to them, Shakyamuni Buddha, Amita Buddha, Akshobhya Buddha, Jeweled Virtue, jeweled Flame, Jeweled Moon, Jeweled Majesty, Hard to Surpass, Lion Echo, Profiting All, and countless other such Buddhas from the ten directions come at once to this room and broadly expound the secret and essential teachings, the store-house of the Dharma. And when they have finished expounding, they return to where they came from. This is the seventh rare and unprecedented phenomenon.
  8. “Within this room the magnificently adorned palaces of all the heavenly beings and the pure lands of the various Buddhas are all to be seen. This is the eighth rare and unprecedented phenomenon.

“These are the eight rare and unprecedented phenomena. Shariputra, who, seeing these sights beyond belief, would still delight in the Law of the voice-hearer?”

hoa senIf the question has ever come to me, I will answer with all my holy proud-hearted voice that: I am Mat Quoc Sanh, a disciple of Guru Thinley Nguyen Thanh – the teaching spiritual advisor of Song Nguyen Tantra House, which belongs to Nyingma tradition, Avalokiteshvara emanation. I am a Buddhist cultivator of Esoteric Buddhism (Great Vehicle). I am now practicing Dharma under the teachings of Song Nguyen Tantra House where presents a modern Vimalakirti room which composes of “rare and unprecedented” six marvelous methods:

  1. Eight Dharma methods of taking refuge in the Three jewels
  2. Uninterrupted offerings
  3. Samayagdrsti-Prabha Samadhi
  4. Lotus walking Dharani
  5. Meditation on Bodhicitta
  6. Five Degrees of Chenrezig meditation and Dharani

I pray for all the sentient beings who have been arriving at the Vimalakirti room will take their precious chances to practice industriously and shorten their distance to the Western Heavens of Amitabha. There will be no one will return empty-handed from the rich land because of their ignorance, stubbornness and non-discernment.

May all the sentient beings achieve the happiness of Buddha’s nature.

Om Mani Padme Hum.

  11. Tantra Citta(Jeffrey Bernard Forest) says:
    Dear Holy Guru,

Flower’s beautify the life. When seeing a flower blooming in any corners, I feel that place more beautiful. Or on the way home, looking at flower’s with different colour, my day seems more peaceful and joyful. Looking into it makes myself refreshing. Therefore, it is very easy to see flower’s around us such as in restaurant’s, shops, supermarkets, roads… Especially, on the special occasion like a wedding, a new year, greetings, the outstanding arrangement is bursting with flower’s. And there is no doubt that people find flower’s beautiful.

There is another kind of flower leading people close together. It is a flower rooted in our mind. It is a flower of gratitude, respect, understanding, sharing, kindness and love. This flower bloomed from the love of parents for children, from friendship, from helping together in life. How beautiful it is when we can see the flower’s of love flourish at every corner in the world. The pain is easing thanks to the generous flower’s

There are many instances of flower’s in the Buddhist teachings and each instance has its meaning. Flower’s in the Dharma and what these flower’s have to teach us is a very beautiful thing

Of course the most well known flower’s in Buddhism are the Lotus flower’s that bloomed where the new-born Shakyamuni Buddha placed his feet as he took his seven steps. These new blossoms herald the destiny of the infant Buddha – in fact teach us that the infant is already the Enlightened One, but would act out the drama of his life to teach us the Dharma.

One of those teachings is the purity of the Buddha nature that is the true face of all sentient beings and which persists despite our flaws of greed, anger and ignorance. If we listen carefully, each flower has a wordless teaching for each of us. The Sutra’s include many references to flower’s. And of course we must not forget the flower’s of the Pure Land, The gorgeous images of the flower’s and all the other attributes of the Pure Land serve as visualization guides to a realm beyond our limited understanding, or as the Heart Sutra so eloquently states : form is emptiness, emptiness is form.

And in “the Vimalakirti room” of “chanhtuduy,.com, the Lotus flower’s are blooming with gorgeous beauty and the big source of” Clear Light ” of Buddha Nature. It is filled with the Guru’s wisdom and compassion. This big source of” Clear light “from” the Vimalakirti’s room” purify all the calyx of an ugly-coloured lotus and reveal the Buddha nature within us. The Guru recognizes the inner Buddha nature within all sentient beings and he has tried to help all beings with his big efforts to water the pure drops to clean the calyx of an ugly coloured lotus. In the Mahayana Uttaratantra Shastra by Arya Maitreya wrote :

“Seeing that in the calyx of an ugly – coloured lotus

a tathagata dwells ablaze with a thousand marks,

a man endowed with the immaculate divine vision

takes it from the shroud of the water-born’s petals.”

Inside the closed calyx of a lotus that has an ugly colour and a repugnant smell dwells a statue of the Tathagata, ablaze with a thousand pure and beautiful marks. The Guru who is endowed with the clairvoyance of immaculate divine vision sees this, and upon being aware of it, removes the buddha statue from the shroud of the petals of the water – born [Flower].

“Likewise the Sugata with his buddha eye perceives his own true state even in those who must abide in the hell of direst pain. Endowed with compassion itself, which is unobscured and endures to the final end, he relieves them from their obscurations.”

Likewise, with their eye of primordial buddha wisdom, the Sugata’s perceive that the tathagatagarbha the true state illuminating their own being, is even present within those who have to abide in the hell of direst pain (Skt. Avici, Tib. mnar med). Being endowed with discriminative wisdom, compassion and activity, which are free from the veils and enduring up to the last, until the far end of samsara, they relieve the disciples from their adventurous obscurations.

Once his divine eye sees the Sugata abiding within the closed ugly lotus, the man cuts the petals. Seeing the perfect Buddha nature within beings, obscured by the shroud of desire, hatred, and the other mental poisons, the Muni does likewise and through his compassion defeats all their veils. Once someone who possesses divine vision sees this statue of the Sugata abiding within the bud of the closed ugly lotus, he will cut off the petals in order to remove the statue.

Likewise the Muni’s  see that the nature of perfect buddhahood is present within all sentient beings, obscured by the shroud of of the defilements, by desire, hatred and the other mental poisons. Through the might of their limitless compassion for all those beings who do not realize this [presence], the awakened Muni’s also unfold their activity, thus over coming these adventurious veils just as the petals obscuring the statue are removed.

Besides, the Guru helps us replant with six pure petals from the Seed of Buddha nature. They are :

1.Eight Dharma methods of taking refuge in the Three Jewel’s

    2. Uninterrupted offerings

    3.Samayagdrsti – Prabha Samadhi

    4.Lotus walking Dharani

    5.Meditation on Bodhicitta

6.Five degress of Chenrezig meditation and Dharani

With six pure petals, the Lotus of Buddha nature within us will be grown up day by day due to our diligence and especially through the Guru’s blessing. The Guru’s blessing is the substance that provides nourishment eessential for growth. Without nutrient, the lotus with six pure petals cannot become a pure lotus in Pure Land. Likewise, without Guru’s blessing, our effort on practice is in vain.

In the book “Dakini Teachings :A Collection of Padmasambhava’s Advice to the Dakini Yeshe Tsogyal by Padmasambhava”, it wrote :”Guru Rinpoche said :” When practicing the Dharma, there are five necessary things :

1.It is necessary to be accepted by noble beings so as to obtain the essence of the oral instructions

2.Necessary to have deep and unceasing devotion to your Master so as to receive the blessings 3.It is necessary to gather a certain degree of the accumulations so that the mind be pliant

4..Necessary that the mind be pliant so that Samadhi can dwell in your being

5.It is necessary that Samadhi dwell in your being so that you quickly attain the omniscient state of Buddha hood

In short, flower’s can also open people to intimacy and each flower is perfectly itself. Let us all enjoy the beauty, colour, form and perfume that flower’s exhibit to us. In this present world of chaos, we embrace all the happiness that lotus flower affords us and we give thanks to our esteemed Guru Thinley Nguyen Thanh who bestows us the most beautiful flower of all.

My blessings to all at Song Nguyen Tantra House and especially to our revered Master, and his consort. Om Mani Padme Hum

Respected Guruji, I bow my head at the lotus feet of Guruji.

    I am Tantra Nirvadeva.

In this Article, Guruji has highlighted the importance and greatness of Samyagdrishti Prabha samadhi  in Chanhtuduy and advantages and benefits of chanhtuduy for laymen and Dharma Practicioners in BUDDHISM as  well as characteristics and benifits  of  Vimalakirthi Room.

The Lotus flower used in the Headline of the article has got a great significance ! In Spiritual field, a lot of importance is given to a flower especially Lotus flower and in  many Religions ( not only in Buddhism) Lotus flower enjoys  high status !

In this connection, ” Kundalini Yoga” one of the branch of Indian Yoga taught in universities too, it is shown, there are seven Chakras ( wheels or energy centres) in the Spinal cord and Brain of the Human body situated at different levels and represented by  lotus flowers of different numbers of petals through which Spiritual Life energy flows from the bottom ( anal region) to the top of the  brain( where  ‘Sahasrara’ chakra represented by thousand petelled Lotus flower) in the ascending order from bottom to top of the brain which is the source of thoughts and seat of mind !

These Chakras ( lotus flowers ) are situated in the Spinal cord and brain  at different levels of human body as follows :

CHAKRA.                                 Site of the level of the body

    1. Mooladhara. …………………..                             Anal region

    2.Swadhistana. ……………………..                Genital region.

    3.Manipura…………………………                Naval  region.

    4.Anahatha……………………………                Heart level.

    5.Vishudda……………………………                Throat level

    6. Agna……………………………………….               Between Eye brows level

    7. Sahasrara……………………………             Top of the Brain

As the Spiritual energy flows upwards from Mooladhara chakra towards Sahasrara  Chakra  depending upon our advance and progress of Dharma practices and accumulation of merits , the petals of different lotus flowers of respective Chakras open and lastly  when Sahasrara is reached and open fully, then it is said we attain the status of Bodhicitta and wisdom in the path of Enlightenment and Liberation !

    Om Mani Padme Hum.

Long live our beloved Guruji for upholding Dharma.

    Dear holy Guru,

I am happy to read this article. Thank you for making the bridge for us to accumulate merrit through your teachings. May you be well for the sake of all sentient beings and may your desciples continue to accumulate  merrit and follow Buddha’s path to enlightenment. May we find enlightenment and share our merrit. Om Mani Padme Hum

  17. Tantramikaya ( Jane) says:
dear holy guru. Thank you for your wonderful article that I read with enthusiasm. Our life is a constant sequence of different states and feelings. Nothing is permanent, nothing is immobile, nothing is permanent. In order for the lotus plant to be able to flower, it must first penetrate the dirty, muddy soil in which it is rooted, and persevere to the water surface. Despite these adverse circumstances, this lotus plant forms a pure, clean and beautiful flower on the water surface. When we apply this symbolism to human life, the dirty, muddy ground stands for the adversities of human life as in certain circumstances and attached thoughts or feelings. The lotus plant stands for a pure spirit and enlightenment. A closed flower represents the potential for each of us with the possibility of enlightenment. The full opening of this wonderful flower is the true enlightenment to have received. We humans with our ego often adhere and often evaluate things prematurely as negative. But as we train and train our minds to a clear mind, we learn that we can turn negative things into positive things as well. It is for me personally one of the most important and most healing experiences I have learned. The lotus plant is a symbolic force to remind us in everyday life, to look at difficult situations from a different angle and to adopt a positive attitude. This allows us to act more aware and attentive. Thank you dear holy guru for your Reminder and Teaching for us. May all be happy. May our holy guru and his consort life long for the sake of all sentient beings. May all beings achieve the happiness of Buddha s nature.
