“DIVINE EYE” IN THE @ ERA ( “Thiên nhãn thông” thời @)

I and my disciples had coffee at a restaurant named “Bun 3 sao” (Three-star noodle) on Nguyen Huu Tho street, Ba Ria city. On the New Year’s Eve night, the weather was a little cold, but we all felt the warmth of being together in this special event. My disciples who came from the north including Mat Dieu Hang, Mat Nhi Khang, and Mat Manh Hung enjoyed Trung Nguyen “cup of brownie” (milk coffee) because this type of raw coffee has not been found in Hanoi yet. Mat Nga had tamarind juice, Mat Hao had fruit yogurt, etc. We all had our own favorite drinks. Actually, it was not the taste but the space and atmosphere that came first in people’s mind while choosing a restaurant or café. At that moment, the Tantra House “travelers” took delight mainly in the profound Dharma taste, not really in the beauty of upcoming spring.

In the middle of the story about “travelers”, one female disciple came up with a question:

–       Dear Guru, any possibility that the theft will break in at home if we are going to stay here until midnight? Last year all our family members went to a death anniversary and came back witnessing most of our property had been burglarized.

I was laughing, then showing my phone’s screen to everyone. They could see clearly the sceneries in the Tantra House, from the entrance to the front door, from Lac Canh Dai area, Trung Dai, Thanh Phong Cac, to Lien Hoa Dai. They were all surprised until I made a joke:

–       This is my “divine eye”.

They burst into laughing. Such a “divine eye” in the @ age (digital age)! In reality, nowadays anyone with financial stability can access this kind of “divine vision”. In Song Nguyen Tantra House, one saboteur once dripped super glue in our gate’s lock. After being informed, the deputy police officer came with his staff to review the scene. There was nothing being stolen that day but he recommended me to install a security camera system in case I am not at home. I found the idea was great, but I did not give it more thoughts as I did not know where I could buy it, who would help me to install it and how much it might cost. As a Buddhist practitioner, I keep a strong belief that we have been protected by the Dharma Guardian. I will install the camera when it is possible. I also recalled that “Everything will flow easily when we are practicing Dharma” (Zopa Rinpoche) and “I will grant any legitimate wishes of my disciples, or else I swear not to attain complete enlightenment” (the 12th Great Vow of Avalokiteshvara); therefore, there will be one day Avalokiteshvara and Dharma Guardian support my wish. That idea first came to my mind in August 2014, then in September 2014 Mat Dieu Hang (from Hanoi) came to take refuge, and sought to learn and practice Dharma in Song Nguyen Tantra House. In the middle of February 2015, Mat Nhi Khang who is Mat Dieu Hang’s spouse came with Mat Manh Hung to take refuge and attended New year Dharma meeting. This time, Mat Nhi Khang brought with him cameras and directly installed them in Song Nguyen Tantra House. So, after 8 months since I started the wish, I achieved “divine vision”, not from opening the divine eye, but the one made in the digital age which was illustrated by an observation electronic device!

How many practitioners are able to acquire “divine vision” throughout their lives? According to the spiritual standard, the practitioners who achieved the intent contemplation at the fourth stage including Buddhism and heathendom (at least at the second contemplation stage) are able to achieve the “divine vision”. Thereafter, they could see things from thousands of miles away clearly. However, it is not easy to achieve that stage of contemplation, it may take hundreds of continuous lives. At the current life, one must make diligent effort without a break for decades.

It depends on the practitioners’ spiritual power that influences their clairvoyance ability. In several religions out of Buddhism, the maximum vision that divine eye could make covers one nation to the whole samsara. To Buddhist practitioners, those who realized Arahantship, or Bodhisattva of above Dhyana (Meditation) stage are able to develop vision through Three Thousand Originally Immanent (the whole universal view of six realms). In the age of Gautama Buddha, Aniruddha acquired “divine vision” and was ranked as foremost among those who had the ability after being transmitted Dharma from the Buddha. Though we are now in the Dharma ending age, there are Buddhist and non-Buddhist practitioners who can possess the divine eye. However, the true practitioners will never reveal that they acquire such ability. Especially to Buddhist practitioners, it is an absolute taboo. The only reason is that the Buddha had already foreseen in the Dharma ending age, there would be evil spirits and demons take in Buddhist’s body faculty by many subtle tactics (read further at the series About the Realm of Demons); they would accordingly use the demonic power to open demonic vision, paralyze the rational mindset of the victims and turn them into spiritual slaves with absolute “admiration” to the spiritual power. It is also the beginning stage of those who got addicted to playing the spiritual power game (which is actually demonic power); by that way, they created many superstitious and spiritistic practices. This is the main principle to distinguish the true Buddhist practitioners and those fake ones who followed spiritual practices originated from demonic power. There is one story that proves the Buddha did not appreciate using supernatural power. One time, a hermit intentionally performed in front of the Buddha by gliding on to the riverfront from one side to another by using superpower. While he lifted up in the pride of doing so, the Buddha asked him:

– How long does it take you to master this power?

– Thirty years..

– Such a waste. I do not need to make that much effort during 30 years, I just need to pay three cents to the ferryman then he will carry me to the other side. I would use that amount of time to concentrate on Dharma practice and attain liberation.

The hermit came to understand the hidden meaning immediately, knelt down and asked to be accepted as a disciple; later on he achieved Arahantship. Since he became a Buddhist until he attained the fruit of Arhatship, he never mentioned about superpower even once.

I am so delighted with the story. It means I do not need to keep meditating until my sitting mat is torn apart to achieve divine vision, I just need to buy some security devices, then I can extend my vision whether I stay in and outside the Tantra House. Reminiscing 7 years ago, there was a Buddhist practitioner from Long Dien district, Long Hai town, who told a story about one bhiksuni who boasted about having opened the “divine eye”. She made a gentle suggestion to others to provide offer and wholehearted devotion to her in order to be transmitted the Dharma method. Many Buddhist practitioners became overjoyed and volunteered to dedicate all their lives. It has been 7 years, I wonder if they made any progress? Regarding this topic, I recalled a joke from His holiness the 14th Dalai Lama that anyone who pays admiration to divine vision may go taking refuge in the “vulture” because their eyesight can be as far as 10 kilometers. In my opinion, it is not necessary to learn or practice so hard to acquire divine vision, one practitioner just needs to practice The Ten Commandments to be reborn into the Heaven of Desire after death and will be automatically equipped with divine eye. One easier way is to maintain and develop the meanness, keep being mean-spirited and miserly until the end of their lives so that they will be reborn into the realm of Demons, afterwards they will automatically have demonic eyes which can reach thousands of miles. The easiest way is just to stay patient and wait until death. Eight days after death, the spirit will leave the antecedent existence body, enter a transitional period and exist as another entity called an intermediate existence body; this body looks like a 8 year-old child and has superpower of eyesight (divine eye) and earing (divine ear). The superpowers that you do not even need to learn or practice to achieve, what is the point of devoting all your mind and brain power on them? Meanwhile you forget “The eightfold noble path” teaching, you are lacking in practicing Renunciation, Bodhicitta and Emptiness which play critical roles and form a strong base to attain liberation?!

I am also glad to know that the era of @ is full of miracle powers! If someone wants to experience Iddhi-vidha (ability to move as if through the air), they can achieve that with the help of supersonic aircraft. If someone wants to have a divine ear (hearing to any distance), they can use smartphones, divine eyes can be replaced by telescopes, microscopes in medicine, etc. In short, in this modern life, the human beings are well-equipped with all the magical powers and they can gather the whole world into one television, likewise the Buddha once taught “Three Thousand Originally Immanent stays in one mustard seed”. It does not happen randomly but as a result of billions of years that human beings keep evolving continuously. The merits keep accumulating and exposed with “magical powers” in the @ era (digital age). However, among six powers, it is impossible for human beings to experience “Pubbe-nivasanus-sati” (ability to remember tens of thousands former existences of theirs and others), “Ceto-pariya-nana” (ability to read the minds of human beings and other beings), and “Avasakhaya” (ability to extinct all cankers or afflictions, even the subtlest). Therefore, human beings are under sufferings because of their own thoughts and egos. For example, we can see and hear from human beings, but it is difficult to understand or feel what they really meant deep down inside their hearts, the human’s heart was once described in one Vietnamese old folk that:

THE RIVER AND OCEAN CAN BE EASILY MEASURED

IS IT POSSIBLE TO MEASURE SUCH IMMENSE DISTANCE IN PEOPLE’S HEART?

There are cases in which people’s hearts could be seen, heard and felt but it was impossible to stay together because of the ignorance tradition, depraved customs, or conflictions among the relatives, so they had no choice end up a victim of “unfulfilled wishes cause sufferings” (suffering due to unfulfilled wishes). Sometimes people’s hearts could be seen, heard, felt and ended up staying together; however, they kept pondering and struggling over external circumstances and internal crooked factors so that they remain suffering until they attain fruitful liberation. Those beings from the realms of gods, demi-gods and demons naturally own five supernatural powers but it is impossible for them to achieve “Avasakhaya” (ability to extinct all cankers or afflictions, even the subtlest); therefore, they will eventually suffer hundred times the pain after death in comparison to human being and animal realms. Only human beings, to be specific, Buddhist practitioners have full potential and ability to achieve all six miracle powers. However, it is very difficult to acquire only divine vision in this physical body, not to mention the other powers. Fortunately, as Buddhist practitioners, we only concentrate on practicing Dharma diligently with constant vow to be reborn to the Pure Land of Amitabha. Then within one human being’s life, we can achieve six miraculous powers, four wisdoms, three bodies after having been born in the Pure land. This is the difference between Buddhist practitioners who depend on self-support force and those who depend on external-support force; besides, there is also second-support force such as Tibetan Buddhism, The Pure Land Buddhism, The Japanese Shin School.

We departed the restaurant when it was just one hour to the New Year Eve. We were all delighted, which means we had achieved a very small part of “Avasakhaya”. Travelling back by car and motorbikes which means we used “Iddhi-vidha”, Mat Dieu called Mat Ha to open the gate beforehand by using “divine ear”. We are Buddhist practitioners who develop strong faith in the law of cause and effect, which also means we achieved the highest stage of “divine vision”. Following the Buddha’s teaching, we put Dharma teaching and transforming as the core power, we never use “supernatural powers” or “Ceto-pariya-nana”. This is the most outstanding difference between Buddhist practitioners and the outsiders. I pray for all the sentient beings to achieve Avasakhaya. Om Mani Padme Hum.

Then within one human being’s life, we achieve six miraculous powers, four wisdoms, 3 bodies after having born in the Pure land.
Opposite, for the Dharma practitioners, the magical powers was an absolute taboo. If they playing the spiritual powers, they sure fall into the tactic trap of demonic. From here, it make to paralyze the rationals mindset of the victims and turn them into spiritual slaves with absolute “admiration” to the spiritual powers.

    Dear Guru
    I read this article
I thank Guru for giving us valuable and beneficial dharma. Through the lesson, I can see that the development of modern society has created a divine ege in the @ era, which can package the whole world into an internet-connected television, phone without having to have supernatural powers. when life develop, sentient beings become more believe in things that seem like illusory illusions but can do it immediately and what they consider to be far from reality is too easy to perform, as is typical practice. practicing Buddha only through the phone does not need to go to the temple to recite long sutras without understanding that “Dharma is life and life is dharma”. Thanks to taking advantage of that development, the Guru has given us the “Duy Ma Ca” castle, which is filled with thousands of righteous thoughts that help us easily approach chanbtuduy.com, can practice the Dharma wherever we accumulate merit and wisdom.
May Guru have good health and live long for the sake of all sentient beings. May all sentient achieve the happiness of Buddha’s nature.
May the Corona will end soon.

    Dear holy Guru,
I have read this article. I would like to show my gratitude to holy Guru as through this article, I understand that it is not necessary to learn or practice so hard to acquire divine vision or any supernatural power. Because these actions do not lead me to the true freedom of liberation.
As mentioned in this article, being attached or showing off supernatural power is forbidden. Because the Buddha had already foreseen there would be evil spirits and demons taken in Buddhist’s body faculty by many subtle tactics, make people become spiritual slaves by showing off the supernatural power, which actually is demon power. And of-course, no one wants to lose their freedom to become a slave and live in the life of fearing or scaring. Furthermore, as Holy Guru has explained in this article, just being reborn into the Heaven of Desire or demon realm after death or eight days after death, one person can automatically have divine eyes and divine ears. However, being reborn in these realms, any sentient beings still have to endure the suffering of ignorance, suffering by their own ego and attachment. Then, it is really no point to have these supernatural powers when I still have to endure the suffering, still feeling hurt by my own ego or attachment. I understand that just by diligently practicing Yoga Thanh Tri under holy Guru’s guidance and nurture Guru devotion, I could gradually attain liberation and acquire true freedom.
Thank you holy Guru for your teaching. May Guru have good health and live long for the sake of all sentient beings.
May the epidemic of Covid-19 come to end soon.
May all sentient beings attain the happiness of Buddha’s nature.
    Om Mani Padme Hum.

Thank you so much for Guru sharing the meaningful article. Through it, I understand that I need to cherish a chance to meet and follow Guru, who help us not only in the life but also in after human life by learning and practicing Dharma Buddha through Pure Mind Yoga. Because only this way, which can help us go on the path of Enlightenment. On the contrary that, if using the life to spend out it for learning and practicing to acquire divine vision or any supernatural but the life still lives on the Samara realm.
I will keep in mind the teaching of Guru is “Fortunately, as Buddhist practitioners, we only concentrate on practicing Dharma diligently with constant vow to be reborn to Pure Land of Amitabha” where we can achieve six miraculous powers, four wisdom, three bodies after having been born in the Pure land. I am grateful Guru.
May Guru live long and have a good health for the sake of all sentient beings.
