Letter from India: NEW YEAR, THINKING ABOUT THE NEW CHAPTER OF MY LIFE WITH PURE MIND YOGA (Năm mới, ngẫm về cuộc đời mới với Yoga Thanh Trí)

Reverend Guru

Om Mani Padme Hum

I bow before your lotus feet

I bow before your lotus feet

Today late in the morning an idea emerged in my mind to convey you my gratitude and feelings of my retirement that occurred yesterday night and I got relived of my tension of the formal bondage of my service life that always generated a painful feeling, very severely, whenever I had to apply for Duty leave from my University even for the purpose of meeting my holy Guru or to attend any conference in my county and abroad. Since the Buddha has preached to be in the discipline, the duties and its norms imposed by the college or the University did never appear to me painful rather I enjoyed the rhythm of the disciplined teaching life and given the best to my students and earned enormous pleasure, as I always considered my duties towards the students as the highest in the order for which I am employed and paid.

Guruji, I have become nostalgic to look back into the service history of the past 45 years as the things and events are coming before my eyes like a flashback of the films which starts from August, 1976 when I joined Nava Nalanda Mahavihara , a Buddhist Research Institute, as a Research Scholar Under Dr. Nathmal Tatia, a great scholar of Buddhism. After His retirement I continued my research with Dr. Mahesh Tiwary Shastri another great scholar of Theravada Buddhism of international repute. Basically it is he who initiated me in the Buddha and Buddhism as I learnt from him the Buddhist Text and Tradition, teachings and preaching of the Buddha in minute detail. Later on he became Professor of Buddhist Studies Dept., Delhi University. I accompanied him to Delhi University to pursue my research and did stay there for about 2 years till my Ph. D. Thesis was not complete. Dr. Tiwary has plaid a dominant role in my academic life, as he shaped my Buddhist wisdom in the brightest of its colour. Though both are no more in this world, but I cannot forget their contribution in shaping my academic personality up to the entire span of my life. As a research fellow I continued to teach the P. G. Students that gave me satisfaction, experience and knowledge. In the year of 1980 December i was awarded the Ph.D. degree and on 5 march 1981 I joined in Ranchi University service as a lecturer. On October 1982 I joined Nalanda College Biharsharif Nalanda. Since with the very inception in the teaching profession I started contributing articles in national and international journals, today my almost 100 articles and about 17 books have been published.

Tantra Sutradaka

I started attending conferences from 1978. It was a chance or predestined that the very first conference I attended was International Buddhist conference and by the grace of the Buddha since then I never looked behind. A radical turn came into my life in 2018 when I was invited to the Tantra House in Vietnam to attend the conference on New Mind Buddhism. There I came in the contact of our holy Guru the founder of New Mind Buddhism. He changed the thought process of my life. From the theoretic consciousness I had to switch over to the practical teaching of my Guru. Earlier I read that Buddha teaches that Samsar and Nirvana may go hand in hand in normal life. Our Holy Guru has demonstrated how this is translating in the practical realities of mundane existence. The ways and means he invented for this transformation is tremendously helping his disciples. Whenever I was entrapped in any dilemmatic situation I read his articles shared in Chantuduy.com a Digital journal of Pure Mind Buddhism and found the solution of the practical plight of my life, whether it is related to my service or the family life or external social problems. This open for all his disciples I am annually visiting our Guru’ place regularly for receiving his blessings and guidance for the future life. The crux of his teachings lies in changing the mind set of humans in a positive way. Since mind is the fountainhead of all our good or bad actions hence mind has to be treated to pious and positive. This has got it genuine expression in his article Eight mind Dharma. He has authored thousands of articles for the uplift of the mankind. He is the living Bodhisatva of present time who has incarnated for happiness of all the sentient beings of this universe. We are lucky enough to see him, be in touch of him and receive regular guidance through his speech and life. He is our role model. We feel ourselves fortunate in being his disciple.

Today I am full and happy to share with you that as we come to the end of the year 2020, it is also the end of my about 40 years of service. As I retired yesterday and have entered into a new chapter of my life, I wish to thank each one of you personally in general and our Holy Guru in particular for your unwavering faith, support and Guru’s teachings, preaching and blessing that has shaped my life in such a beautiful part of my journey. I am grateful to my only friend Rose Tran who had been instrumental in connecting me with the Holy guru. I cannot thank you enough for your love, generosity and kindness and for always being there. I am much grateful to my Guru and wish him a joyous, healthy, prosperous and a fulfilling New Year and the life ahead.

Om Mani Padme Hum

Long live our Guru for the happiness of all the sentient beings.

May all the sentient beings attain the Buddha nature.

I bow before you’re your feet

    Dear Tantra Sutradaka,
Thank you so much for your writing. I am touched with what you have shared. The story of your life brings me some valuable lessons.
The first lesson I have learnt from you is the quality of humility. Even though you get a high position in the society and have vast knowledge of Buddhism, but you always consider yourself novice on the path to enlightenment. You are so humble to learn Pure Mind Yoga from Guru. I can understand why you get the good result while practicing what Guru has taught you.
The second thing I get from you is the good quality of a Buddhist. That is you always show the gratitude to and remember the ones who helped you in your life, even the smallest thing; and you have tried your best to do good things for them to repay their kindness.
The third and the most important thing that I admire you is your devotion to Guru though you are very far from him. It is your devotion that brings you the peace and happiness in this life. I highly appreciate your devotion to Guru.
Thank you so much for your meaningful sharing on the occasion of New Year.I look forward to reading more of your writing.
May Guru live long for the benefit of all sentient beings.
May you be healthy and all your righteous wishes come true soon.
May all sentient beings attain the happiness of Buddha nature.
May covid 19 pandemic end soon.
    Om mani padme hum.

    Dear Tantra Sutradaka,
Thank you very much for your sharing. I am very impressed with your achievements throughout your career, that must be a wish for many people who pursue the academic career. I have noticed that your sharings are always the combination and reflection of the theories you have learned and the knowledge you acquired from Guru’s teachings. It seemed Guru’s teachings created a strong bridge that helps to connect and analyze all your theoretical background together. The more I realized that, the more I become admiring to you for your modesty. As it is easy to find people who are always willing to exaggerate their competence, while it is really hard to find people who are humble and genuinely eager to learn from others. Throughout the years, you must have had a lot of opportunities to meet Buddhist teachers and experts, but you directed your devotion to Guru wholeheartedly and have travelled to Vietnam to meet Guru three times in three years; that makes me become more appreciate the chance to be born in Vietnam, to learn from Guru by my mother language in this life. I must say your story is always an inspiration to me, and possibly many others. Thank you very much. May you have a good health and all your legitimate wishes be fulfilled.
May all sentient being attain the happiness of Buddha’s nature.
    May Covid19 pandemic end soon.
    Om mani padme hum.

  5. Cao Diệu Mật Thủy says:

    Dear Tantra Sutradaka,
Every time reading your sharing, the humbleness and Guru devotion strengthen in me. This time by this article, I admire your career full of success and happy with the fulfilment that you got Guru in your life. In your position now with all experience and knowledge in Buddhism, you still see Guru as a role model and praise his wisdom, his bodhicitta through his speech and his life. So only those who are foolish don’t treasure the value of the real diamond as for them, they only see the rough and sharp side of the jewel. Silly them!
Thank you for your sharing. My congratulations on the new chapter of your life.
May Guru good health and long life for the sake of all sentient beings.
May the covid-19 pandemic come to an end soon.
    Om mani padme hum!

Dear Guru thank you for sharing this article. I feel so happy by coming to know about the retirement of our Dharma brother Tantra Sutradaka.

As mentioned in this article I too really feel stress free when I happen to read articles in chanhtuduy.com
It also brings immense happiness in me.

Congratulations to Tantra Sutradaka for completing his continuous 45 years of service in Buddhist teachings as a lecturer and professor. I wish you happy retirement.

Guru has taught us how to practically practice Buddhist Dharma and explained how Samsara and Nirvana go hand in hand.
This has helped many of Guru’s disciples to to think positively and improve their life styles.

As Guru has written many articles for benefitting mankind we are lucky to find him and receive his guidance and blessings.

I wish Guru and all Dharma brothers a happy new year.

May Guru be healthy to uphold Dharma.

May all beings be free from suffering and get enlightened.
