Letter from India: Why King Bimbasara of Magadha kingdom became a follower of BuThư Ấn Độ: Tại sao vua Tần Bà Sa La trở thành đệ tử Phật.)dhda? (

King Bimbasara of Magadha kingdom ( the present Bihar in India) was performing a Yaga  or Yagna ( a spiritual procedure burning wood fire in a iron vessel or in a pot made of bricks and offering s of various materials and animals to the godess of fire) to reduce his  demerits due to bad karmas.!

As per the King’s order, a group of lambs were being carried by a villager on a road towards the ‘ Yagna Kunda ‘, the place of offering s made. In that group of lambs, one small lamb was following the crowd with limping gait walking under the hot sun.!. Buddha saw this during his alms- rounds and his heart melted with compassion and took the lamb on his shoulder and told the owner villager that he would help him carrying that lame lamb on his shoulder to reach the ‘Yagna Kunda’, the intended place of destiny.
As they reached the yagna kunda, where king Bimbasara was presiding over the so called spiritual function, Buddha told the king : ” O ! King! Please offer me in this yagna Kunda and save the life of this poor lamb!”. Wondering and shocked, the king asked Buddha, ” who are you ?”. Replied Buddha : ” I am a saint. You are offering these dumb animals to your Goddess of fire by killing them to reduce your demerits due to bad karmas and to gain good health, wealth and fortune ! If your godess of Fire is so hungry, let her eat me. Go this purpose, shall we have to kill these dumb animals to satisfy your godess to bestow up on you health, wealth and prosperity ?.
Alright ! After the death of these animals, can the godess of Fire can give life back to any one of these animals? if you pray or do yaga  for any length of time ? . Never. So when you cant give life back to any sentient being, what right have you to take life of them by killing?
By hearing this, the king shocked and mute and bowed down his head. From then onwards, he became a follower of Buddha. He made a law in his kingdom not to kill any animals throughout his kingdom in future.!
Related to this, a great poet writes, ” Buddha’s two Eyes are two great Epics giving message of Love and Compassion. Even an illiterate man can see the whole Universe in them “

    Dear Tantra Nirvadeva,

Thank you for the article. Through the story, I could see the Buddha’s compassion towards sentient beings and, with his wisdom, saved them from harms. I also see that ignorance can make us so cruel when trying to benefit from the sufferings of others.

It reminds me about so many times the Guru has saved us from harm, not only the harms from corrupted or evil people of this world but also the harms of Samsara for countless lives. I pray, may all sentient beings attain the happiness of Buddha’s nature.

Thank you for the article, may you achieve all rightful wishes.

May the Corona outbreak will soon be eliminated

    Om Mani Padme Hum.

    Dear Tantra Nirvadeva,

Thank you so much for your sharing. I can see the Buddha’s compassion towards all sentient beings,  especially,  his wisdom to guide all beings to not to harm any beings and free from suffering. Therefore,  wisdom and compassion are the two main factors for the Buddhist on the path of enlightenment.

In addition,  through your article,  I remember the Buddha’s teaching it goes that “Better than a thousand meaningless words is one sensible word if hearing it one becomes peaceful”. Guru’s teachings from the articles on chanhtuduy.com has helped so many learners to get peaceful all around the world.

May Guru and his consort have good health and live long for the sake of all beings.

May you have health and achieve all your righteous wishes.

May all sentient beings free from suffering and its causes.

May the epidemic caused by corona virus soon end.

    Om Mani Padme Hum

    Dear Tantra Nirvadeva,

Thank you for your sharing about the story of why King Bimbasara of Magadha kingdom became a follower of Buddha. The story gives me the idea of many irrational ways harmful to the other beings but people still believe it would bless and give fortune just because they don’t have the right view. Then I understand more about the importance of the right view that Guru has been tireless teaching us through chanhtuduy.com and stressing us to read and comment regularly. The story also reminds me of our Guru’s compassion, never apart from the other Buddha and Saints, always protecting us from the outcomes happen based on the law of causation by the three vows in the article of “A few words on chanhtuduy.com”. I ask myself to cherish the opportunity of learning and practising Puremind Yoga invented by Guru by reading and commenting on chanhtuduy.com more and more regularly.

May Guru and your consort, Ms Mat Dieu good health and longevity for the benefit of all sentient beings.

May the Covid-19 epidemic will soon come to an end and may all sentient beings be free from suffering.

    Om mani padme hum!
