Letter from India: My spiritual trip to Guru’s pure place (Những lần đầu tiên trong đời tôi)

Letter from India: My spiritual trip to Guru’s pure place (Những lần đầu tiên trong đời tôi)

The 1st step of journey started on 15th Feb 2018 that is on Friday. I got into a cab to catch the flight from airport but all of a sudden cab broke down and was left with 40 mins to arrive the airport. Here in my place it takes 2 hours to travel 40 kms because of crowdy traffic. I was sad and thinking I would not be able to board the flight and all the money invested by me and supported by my dharma friends would be wasted. Then I thought let’s try and see what happens.

I booked another cab. The driver was a young boy, I explained him my situation. He said I am not sure but will try to take you airport on time. He put all his efforts driving the cab at high speed in full of traffic and to my surprise we reached the airport on time. I was wondering if it was true and I gave him extra money whatever I could give him, he smiled and was happy too.

I was stopped by by immigration officer he was junior and was not allowing to board the flight as I was leaving my country 2 days earlier then visa date. I asked him what should I do now to board the flight. He said to wait for sometimes and his senior officer came. I explained him situation and said it would take 2 days for to reach Hanoi as I had to transit for 24 hours in Singapore. Senior officer checked my documents and gave orders to his junior officer not to argue and asked him to let me go to board the flight. I was surprised and thought it was Guru’s blessings and also some other God which helped me to pass through these difficult situations.

I landed into Singapore and was on transit waiting for 24 hours for connecting flight change. Entire 24 hours I was sleeping reciting Guru’s given mantra Om Mani Padme Hum and also Namo Buddha name.Changai airport in Singapore is one of its best class I felt because of their services and the way they receive the customers. I liked the airport of Changai.

With Mat Nguyen Bich and Mat Hong Nhat at the airport

Finally on 17th Feb 2018 I landed in Hanoi. After clearing immigration checks and visa stamping and came out of terminal 2 and was waiting for my dharma friend Mat Dieu Hang.  I felt nervous as it’s unknown place to me and could not find Mat Dieu Hang. She explained me she couldn’t come and her dharma friend  Mat Nguyen Bich is going to pick me up at airport. To my surprise, Mat Nguyen Bich approached me and was taking me to his mother house 10 km from Hanoi airport.

He took me to his mother’s house. It was on the occasion of lunar new year in Vietnam. He introduced me to her mother, brothers and other ladies in his home. They gave me a warm welcome. I was moved from my heart because of the high respect they showed me. They served me 1st class meal with sticky rice, pork, chicken, vegetables soup, fish and other delicious food. But I was a vegetarian person.Because of their loving kindness I silently accepted all the food they offered me and finished with eating.First time I had non-veg food but sometimes to make others happy we have to sacrifice few things, So I did.

Then Mat Nguyen Bich’s mother gifted me some money as a sign of good for coming year. They gifted each other with money as a sign of good luck. After a pleasant meal we left for the Hanoi airport to board another flight to Ho Chi Min city. In the airport we met Mat Hong Nhat and his wife Mat Hong Quang with their children. They too received me warmly with a kind heart and smile on their faces. Then we all together boarded the flight.

From Ho Chi Min city airport we were taken to Motel N.A. 200 kms from airport I think. A good place to take rest. In motel I met Dr. Avinash Srivastava who is a professor in a university in India. We greeted each other and had exchanged some dhamma talks. I also met 2 monks from Srilanka who were very gentle and silent and had talks with them. We all were given rooms for stay in motel.

I along with our Dharma friend from US stayed in our given room. He was kind and gentle. I was happy to know that even he was a graphic designer. I felt even more happier when I came to know that his mother also sometimes tries to dharma articles. Entire night our US friend was preparing and practising for Dharma lectures to be delivered next morning in Dharma conference. Next morning we had some photographs with our Dharma friends and left for the conference to be held in R. hotel.

The first time I was attending an official meeting in my life

It was first time I was attending an official meeting in my life. I was not scared but felt peaceful and happy because I was in midst of my Dharma friends and had blessings of Guru. One by one was coming up on stage and were singing Dharma songs with the encouragement from our Guru. Voices of our Dharma friends were enchanting when they were singing songs, it was like these songs were uplifting our souls and leading us grow together in path of liberation. I am so surprised to know that all Dharma songs are composed by Guru’s consort. They are so sweet and spiritual that I felt I was living in the blessing from Guru and Buddha.

Give some sharing at the meeting

Now it was my turn and Guru requested me to sing a song. I had never been singing songs so I requested Guru that I would like to share my Dharma experience and Guru permitted me to do so. This is the first time I talked in public but I did not feel scared. Guru’s compassionate look and kindness to me was the great encouragement for me to speak and step on the path to enlightenment. I was so moved to listen to Guru’s words after my sharing. It was so precious to me, like the Buddha’s drop of blessing upon the ignorant being like me to get off all worldly dust and manifest the Buddha’s nature within.

I was bestowed the Dharmaganza of Mani mantra

In addition, I was bestowed the Dharmaganza of Mani mantra and the Dharma outfit by Guru. I was so happy and joyful. My wish came true. I have known that with the Dharmaganza of Mani mantra within me, I am always blessed by Guru at any time in anywhere.

In Dharma conference all had beautifully participated by sharing their dharma experiences and singing melodious Dharma songs. After meeting we all were taken for lunch and dinner in evening.During lunch I met our Dharma friend Dharma Mahadeva. She was working as  principal in Dubai. She appreciated my speech and was thankful to her. In the evening some of us with help of Mat Dieu Hang went for shopping. Mat Nhi Khang drove us to entire city during night. The city was beautiful and people around us were energetic.

Then we all were taken to Guru’s house. It was a beautiful home with look of spiritual castle or a place designed for meditation. The indelible impression on my soul is the pure and peaceful atmosphere here. I could hear the bird singing. The line “Mat Gia Song Nguyen” hang up highlighted in the midst of the colorful flowers and green leaves. I have never come to such a beautiful and peaceful place. I could not use any words to express how happy I was when I was there. All I have felt beyond words.

Some pets were surrounded the holy Guru like the small disciples played with the great and compassionate spiritual fathers. They looked so lovely and beautiful. I was especially impressed with the nice pet who was always close to Guru, laid down next to Guru. I did not know what its name was. I happened to remember the pet in Guru’s story in his lecture in conference yesterday. One of Guru’s disciples took care of his pet and considered the pet as his Guru then he could get enlightenment. It was the example of that the devotion to Guru leads disciples to get enlightenment. And all Guru’s belongs are so precious.

having talks with our Dharma friends

There Guru gave us knowledge of Dharma practice need to be done in every day of life. I have noticed that Guru’s method to practice the Dharma in daily life was so useful. It was the quickest way for me to develop Bodhicitta and on the path of Bodhisattva. It was meditation on Bodhicitta. I was so lucky to learn from him. I am grateful to learn such a wonderful dharma suitable with my busy life. Then I had talks with our Dharma friends and monks from Srilanka at night. I was moved very much.

Finally, time has come to depart and leave to my country in next day early morning. My Dharma friend, Mat Nhi Khang drove me to airport and helped me in clearing immigration checks. He wished me good luck and gave a warm send off and suggested me to stay happy. And then I left for my country with all new energy and Guru’s blessings and teaching in my mind and heart.

Tantra Upatissa in the Dharma outfit bestowed by Guru

This was the most beneficial spiritual trip I had ever experienced. I had learnt too much, I had a good chance to be near the Holy Guru, to learn the practice of a Bodhisattva by meditation on Bodhicitta. I remembered the teaching of Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche: “It is always beneficial to be near a spiritual teacher. These masters are like gardens or medicinal plants, sanctuaries of wisdom. In the presence of a realized master, you will rapidly attain enlightenment. In the presence of an erudite scholar, you will acquire great knowledge. In the presence of a great meditator, spiritual experience will dawn in your mind. In the presence of a bodhisattva, your compassion will expand, just as an ordinary log placed next to a log of sandalwood becomes saturated, little by little, with its fragrance. (from the book “The Hundred Verses of Advice: Tibetan Buddhist Teachings on What Matters Most”).

Thank you all for making the event success and heart touching.

May Guru live long and protected and get enlightened.

May Guru consort be protected and all sentient beings get favourable conditions for practicing the Dharma under Guru’s guidance.

May all beings be free from suffering and get enlightened.

Om Mani Padme Hum.

    Buddha is my life

    Dharma is my way

    Sangha is my Spirit

Respected Guruji, I bow my head at the lotus feet of Guruji.

    I am Tantra Nirvadeva.

Iam delighted to read my Dharma friend Tantra Upatissa, to start with in the beginning of his journey to Dharma conference, inspite of his travelling obstacles over come by the blessings of Guruji and Buddha reached the destination safely.!

The pivot role of Mat Deu Hang in the conference, on the direction of Guruji, with regard to her attention to the guest Dharma friends coming from outside, and their care during their stay, is highly commended !

What impressed me most, my Dharma friend Tantra Upatissa, though he is a strict vegetarian hitherto, accepted the non-veg food served heartily by Mat Nguyen and his mother for the first time before reaching the venue of the Dharma conference to make others happy and says’ some time s  we have to sacrifice few things to make others happy!.’

The pictures exhibited in the article reveal how grand and success and smooth going the program with participants singing Spiritual melody songs and exchange of spiritual views , Guruji being the chair-person.!

BAs I went on reading this article, I felt I myself is present in the Dharma conference and enjoying the Spiritual feast and enriching my Spiritual knowledge! .

My Dharma friends ‘s joy and pleasure during their stay there is my joy and pleasure !

In the end, my Dharma friend Upatissa’s Recollection of the teachings of  Master Dilgo Khyentse about the importance of being near a Spiritual Teacher like our beloved Guruji to rapidly attain Enlightenment! This shows his profound Spiritual thinking and intense devotion to beloved Guruji, Chanhtuduy.com and Song Nguyen Tantra House.!

    Om Mani Padme Hum.

Long live our beloved Guruji for upholding Dharma.

Dear Guru, a warm greetings to you.

I was invited by a friend to attend and witness the wonderful event but unfortunately some schedules i happened to attend most. I live here in the Philippines and I was baptized as a Roman Catholic. I haven’t known much yet about Buddhism and I am very eager to learn more about it and practice the discipline of a Buddhist. I only have superficial ideas through a friend that I happened to know in Facebook. Actually, she was the one who invited me before to witness your wonderful event in Vietnam. She’s been a good friend.

Thank you for being a wonderful soul. I wish one day I will have the chance to meet you personally and have the chance to hear your great word of wisdoms.

  4. Mật Diệu Hằng says:
    Dear Tantra Upatissa,

Thank you so much for sharing this nice article. I highly appreciate your spirit to overcome all difficulties to come to meet the holy Guru. I am happier when you feel the blessings of Guru which helps you overcome all difficulties.

In addition, your kindness of eating non-veg at the first time in your life to for others’ happiness makes me so touched. It is Guru’s teachings of that it is the action of a Bodhisattva who always think of all sentient beings and do everything for other happiness. I am so happy that you remember the Guru’s teaching of that Buddhists should sacrifice themselves for others and be always simple with everything including food. Because Buddhists consider wisdom as their only goal to get the enlightenment.

Due to your renunciation for this spiritual trip to Guru’s pure place and your devotion towards Guru, you were taught the precious method to practice Bodhicitta, meditation on Bodhicitta by Guru. I agree with you that it is the quickest way to walk on the path of Bodhisattva. The most importance is that you have a good chance to be near the Guru and in the presence of the Guru, you will rapidly attain enlightenment.

May Guru and his consort have a good health and live long for the sake of all sentient beings.

May Tantra Upatissa get joyful and successful on the path to enlightenment.

May all sentient beings achieve the happiness of Buddha’s nature.

    Om Mani Padme Hum.

  5. Dear Tantra Upatissa,

I am delighted to read your sharing and highly appreciate your effort to overcome the obstacles to join Dharma Conference. Thanks to blessing of Yidam through Holy Guru’s channel, all the difficulties were resolved properly. Finally you could meet Guru, his consort, Dharma brothers and had a chance to visit Song Nguyen Tantra House, a very rare opportunity. Even you are living in an another country, a very far land (in terms of geographic distance) but the devotion towards to Guru through remembering and following his instructions, his teachings can help you keep close to Guru.

May all Tantra Upatissa’s right wishes will be come true in near future.

May Holy Guru and his consort live long for sake of all sentient beings.

May all sentient beings achieve happiness of Buddha’s nature.

    Om ah hum.

  8. Dear Tantra Upatissa

I’m delighted to read your sharing. I appreciate your efforts and determination to attend the Dharma Conference. I appreciate your kindness, after learning that you have had non-veg for the first time to show your gratitude towards the hosts and to make others happy. I’m  glad that you have had valuable experiences after the journey and understood the blessing of the Guru. As a Buddhist who had his very first spiritual journey, I share the same feelings as yours.  Thank you for your sharing.

    Respected Guru Ji,

The article “Letter from India…..” is really very interesting article with lots of experience shared by the invited dharma friend /brother  from India. I am feeling happy that he has learned a lot and delivered  a  speech first time without scared .  This is the real sprite as well as confidence along with Trust on Guru Ji.

Everyday we are learning something and at dharma conformance we learn only positive which helps us for the self confidence and betterment of lifestyle to get peace. In my opinion, our learning is not only for self satisfactions…..It should be for common people who are suffering.

I have no intention to hurt any one…just to share my feelings and my interest towards Buddha Dharma.   ” Kamanar  binash re Dukha r Binash ”      Kamana—- Wants/wish,     binash—End,   Dukha —Pain,  binash— End.      so the meaning is ” No pain when No wish “

Respected Guru Ji….learning is endless and we have to learn from an Ant also. I bow down my head and pray before Lord Buddha  and Guru Ji to bless me and teach me. I am a common/Normal/ learner from India.

    With Regards,

Respected Guruji, I bow my head at the lotus feet of Guruji.

    I am Tantra Nirvadeva.

    OM MANI PADME HUM.

Bodhisattva Avaflokitheshwara  composed this six syllabus Manthra and said “For all beings imprisoned, my manthra would be the home, the shelter, the refuge, the fellow-traveller!. One will chase over mind into the Pure state when one listen to the manthra. They will be lead to the Enlightenment place and support with its boundless powers.!

Once the manthra is cited, it will wash out their 5-Cardinal sins or all the Karma obstacles and collect inconceivable merits.!

Among all other manthras, Mani manthra is the quintessential and common. ” Only need to recite the six syllabus manthra, which is enough”.! So, always recite six syllabus Mani manthra.!The manthra ‘ Om Mani Padme Hum’ is the embodiment of all Buddhas and all the manthras according to Guru Rinpoochi Patrul as he wrote in his ” The heart of treasure of the Enlightened ones.”knowing that the manthra frees all !, The Guru gave offerings and encouraged the stonecutters and sculptures to carve and engrave Mani manthra on stones as much as possible.

Guru Dilgo Khyentse affirmed that no manthra could be considered higher than the Mani manthra ‘ Om Mani Padme Hum’. Because it comprises the blessings of all other manthras as well !

Master Chagma Karma is of the opinion, after studying all Buddhist Sutras said that no manthra is easier to practice, Pure and more beautiful than Mani manthra!  By listening or reciting Mani manthra all sentient beings are free from cycles of rebirths and deaths. Moreover, This manthra is embodiment of Avalokitheshwara in SOUND! . The six syllabus represent six paramitas and purify gradually all sins and Karma.!

There are 165 Countries and territories worldwide and among them ONLY TIBET was recognised as the source of ” Mani manthra” among the Buddhist Countries !

To conclude,  ” Reciting Mani manthra is the shortest and fastest path to Liberation.!

    Om Mani Padme Hum.

Long live our beloved Guruji for upholding Dharma.

    Dear Tantra Uppatissa

Such a breathtaking and exciting experiences you went through in the journey to Song Nguyen Tantra House. I am glad to see how the blessing from Yidam through the Guru’s channel helped you get through such difficult situation. Of course, this should take into account warm supports from vajra fellow brothers of the House. It’s great to know that you have followed the teaching of the Guru in practicing Bodhicitta by putting aside your diet habit in consideration for the hospitality of Mat Nguyen Bich’s family. I totally agree with you that the Guru’s method to practice Dharma in daily life is the quickest way to develop Bodhicitta and on the path of Bodhisattva (i.e meditation on Bodhicitta). It’s not by chance Siddha Shantideva taught that: “Stirring 84,000 dharma practices all together will turn out an essence – that is Bodhicitta.” What we’ve learnt from our Guru therefore is all the essence of Buddhism, thus leading us to a quick enlightenment in the future. Thanks for your beautiful thoughts about the Guru and Song Nguyen Tantra House.

May Guru and his consort live long for the sake of sentient beings

May Tantra Uppatissa be surrounded by blessings of the Guru and the Three Jewels

May all sentient beings achieve the happiness of Buddha’s nature

dear holy guru, Dear Brother Upatissa Thank you for this wonderful article and the experiences of our Dharma brother Tantra Upatissa. It is impressive how our Dharma Brother describes his journey. From the photos I could see how happy he is to have experienced this spiritual journey. And how proud and thankful he was to attend the Dharma Festival. Also I went 4 weeks on my spiritual journey to Nepal to fulfill my dream to reach Buddha’s place of birth. On this 18th of february I was mentally with our dear sangha and today i would like to tell a little bit about my spiritual journey which I took at the same time in Nepal to Buddha’s place of birth. I had saved a long time to fulfill this wish and I went on February 1 on my long trip to Nepal. During the flight, I meditated and thought of some of our holy Guru’s articles. When I arrived in Nepal, the many new impressions overwhelmed me. It was completely different from the environment in which I live. The first thing I noticed was the friendly and helpful people. The sun was burning and in my home it was cold. When I arrived at the house of my Nepalese family I was told that I should just open my heart and absorb everything. I did it and felt as a family member as I do in our sangha. From Kathmandu I then traveled to Pokhara to finally travel to Lumbini. The trip on the bus was very tiring and took 15 hours because new roads were built and the way was difficult. It was almost dark when I arrived in Lumbini and so I recovered in the hotel and the next morning the manager brought me to the wonderful temples and finally to Buddha’s birthplace. I was impressed and enjoyed every moment. I entered the white house surrounded by flowers and guarded by the Nepalese army. I knelt down and prayed and saw in a kind of pit which was secured by a glass pane. A Nepalese told me that this is the exact birthplace of Buddha. I was very overwhelmed and spent some time there to realize that I had arrived. People talked to me about Buddha and they asked me where I came from. I told them that I’m from Germany and my sangha is in Hanoi. I spoke of all the Dharma teachings and how grateful I am for being able to experience the wise knowledge of the Buddha through you holy guru. I visited more Buddhist temples and participated in ceremonies that made me feel peace and quiet. I can hardly give with my words again how much this journey has changed inside me. It was the diet, the kind people, the devout love of the people who were very poor in material things, but rich in heart. It was the incredible experiences, the adventure of having experienced this journey, the tears of farewell to the children I could support there, who made my spiritual journey the most beautiful journey of my life. I thought of your dharma teaching that nothing is permanent and we should not cling to not suffer. I must confess that I am suffering at the moment when I think of the people and how much I miss all this there. But I know I have to be honest with myself too. I read Tantra Upatissa’s travelogue, his experiences made me feel something that I was with you at the Dharma meeting and I would have liked to be physically with you. I thank you holy guru for all your articles and I thank our sangha. May all be free from suffering. May our holy Guru life long for the sake of all sentient beings. May be happy on all spiritual trips. Om Mani Padme Hum
