MIND PROSPERS (Hưng vận tâm thức)

MIND PROSPERS (Hưng vận tâm thức)

Rich or poor, people have sorrow, all of them desire happiness and avoid worrying. “Stop worrying and Start living” is a well-known saying of a successful French man. Howeve, to do it effectively, each famous man has own way.

Stop worrying

Buddha showed that human beings has 8 types of unhappiness which are reasons of sorrow. They are birth, aging, disease, death ( being born, growing, sickness and death are unhappiness), unfulfilled wishes are unhappy, separation from the loved is unhappy, meeting while disliking is unhappy, full – orbed activities of the five skandhas are unhappy. These 8 unhappiness cause 84.000 sorrow. Everyone expect to leave from these. Buddha taugh the way to leave from sorrow in “Turn the dharma – cakra” sutra. That is after consider “Four Noble Truths” , Buddhist practice “Noble Eightfold Paths”, then the results of Buddha – way will be fulfilled step by step. In Tatric, the solution is simply practice by exploiting the external energy through incantation.

Mani mantra, Vidya-sadaksari

What is incantation? That is esoteric words of Buddhas, of the great Bodhisattvas, from great insight Samadhi, be summaried from quintessence and marvel in universe.

In Sanskrit language, incantation is “mantra” and means protect mind from impurity and sorrow. So, we can understand simply that incantation is means in giving happiness, rescue from unhappiness. The use of incantation is described in many Tantric sutras. In short, there are 5 marvelous function : reverence (the person who dictates incantation is respected and loved by man, deity, evil, genie; benefits increasing ( raise normal life profits such as longevity, health, success), dispersing calamity ( calamity will be dispersed in progress from hard to easy, easy to disappeared); summoning ( gather all subtle power in universe); taming ( exorcise demon which is disappeared power finding way to harm man always). In Lakavatara Dharma festival, Buddha taught even great Bodhisattva must chant of mantras. From this incantation, it has still been kept and protected day and night constantly by 84.000 ganga vajra… Little evils must avoid this good man over 10 yojana and ghosts are impossible in disturbing.

Following above marvelous things, we understand that it is so simple for “weapons” such as “mantra” to leave from sorrow in this world. It is just we practice or practice regularly or not? Normally, we often say “chant mantra”, different from “dictate ” which is reading aloud with bell or wooden bell in Vietnam pagodas. Chant means whisper in mind or speak in low voice just collar can hear. Chant mantra means practice regularly following the rule of mantra. Chant mantra has 6 ways shown in “Tantric oral decision” by Padma Sambhava in ” Diamond mind practice ” chapter :
– Firstly, chant diamond is chanting just for own necklace to hear.
– Secondly, chant with diamond rhythm is used in great result practise time ( the fourth stage of Tantric practice) .
– Thirdly, chant diamond secret is whispering in mind .
– Fourthly, chant like a wheel is imagining the words out of the mouth, into the stomach, then disappeared back to heart center.
– Fifthly, chant like a wreath of flowers is spining wreath of mantra flowers around syllables in heart center, then chanting unanimously while focusing on syllables.
– Sixthly, chant focusing on the sounds is chanting while own mind is focused on the sounds of mantra.

Lotus Flower Estrade in Song Nguyen Tantra House

The people who are starters in front of Tantric’s door usually do in the third and sixth way so that it is convenient and possible for walking, standing, lying, sitting. It is the same as medicine, the more valuable it is, the more taboos it has. When chanting mantra, must follow these rules : Do not stop chanting to talk with the others; do not chant with a high voice because of lowing power of mantra and non-people and ghosts will be scared and move; do not spit in public places because of interfere mantra power; ; sitting on Padmasana type is the best to chant mantra in 4 positions (straight back, horizontal shoulder, quite bendind neck, upward hands and putting on each other, tongue touch the mouth roof, look to nose direction). Those are necessary to know when chanting mantra shown by Padma sambhava in ” Correct crystal practice chain” chapter of “Tantric oral decision” book.

Above are things. About theory, the people who are unhappy and sorrowful notice these things. When prayers (the people chanting matra) chant, it is when stoping talking in the world, it is good for practice peaceful and pure words. When prayers seat on 7 points position (7-point-Padmasana), meaning decently and dignifiedly, it is keeping the body peaceful and pure. Noticeably, the prayers have pure body despite walking, standing or sitting. When the prayers focus on listening to the sounds of mantra, then do not think about life problems, will keep pure mind. When body, words, thoughts are pure , the self becomes Buddha. Buddha never has sorrow or unhappiness.

Kwan Um Bodhisattva – Four Attachments Kwan Um – Tibetan archetype

Above are the own strength of prayer, means basing on the self power. The strength of another means expecting in effection from Buddhas, the greats such as the great Kwan Um Bodhisattva, who helps us to stop worrying, this is impossible in considering. In the sutra ” The Vast, Great, Perfect, Full, Unimpeded, Great Compassion Hear Dharani”, Kwan Um Bodhisattva attested that when the living being dictate his mantra, all reasonable expectations will be fulfilled, if not he can be Perfect universal enlightenment, knowledge and understanding. That means incantation is the bridge to Kwan Um Bodhisattva, is the marvelous signal aerial from his world. Therefore, the ascetics will be accepted wishes because of Kwan Um Bodhisattva’s marvelous aid..

When you believe that, the religious monk does not worry about normal life sorrows which all are sent to Buddha. Just do a simple thing is hard in dictating incantation. Then, own strength will have strength of another, strength of another will help own strength to be more diligent, destroy bad sorrows, win 4 types of ghosts, leave far away from the hell, like in point 4 of the sutra ” Great Eight Dharma”. After understanding and trusting, readers will decide the others things by themselves. May the person who has faculty condition fulfill wishes.

dear holy guru. thank you for your article and the translation. For my understanding, I took your article the following statement. Only when our body and mind, and also our thoughts are pure and clear, will we be Buddha. , It is in our power and independence that we learn diligently and meditate and clean our minds. Just as we daily clean our teeth, we should also do it with our mind. Through powerful singing of the mantra we feel the power within us. I am currently using The Green Tara Mantra for meditation which also stands for the power of health. my favorite mantra remains Om Mani Padme Hum. It is full of power and fulfillment, and I can sing with it. Our goal is to achieve enlightenment. To achieve this goal, we must recognize what we have experienced and what it is that is hidden behind the term “I”.
At the end of a meditation, all positive impressions that have been built are given away to all beings, so that meditation can not become a food for the ego.
What is special about Buddhist meditations is not only their diversity and the power of unambiguousness but, above all, the precision of the goal, fully adapted to a rapid achievement of liberation and enlightenment.
    Buddhist meditation must
not be complicated or in long
    Retractions take place: Already
few minutes a day can soon
powerful results. I am working on this and I thank you for your wise words and valuable articles. May our holy Guru have a long life. Om Mani Padme Hum

  5. Dear Holy Guru,

I have read this article. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful and meaningful article.

I have known that the main reasons lead all beings to suffer in this Saha world. All are from the mind, both happiness or suffering. As the Lord Buddha taught in the sutra of Dhammapada:

“1. Mind is the forerunner of (all evil) states.
Mind is chief; mind-made are they.
If one speaks or acts with wicked mind,
because of that, suffering follows one,
even as the wheel follows the hoof of the draught-ox

    2. Mind is the forerunner of (all good).
Mind is chief; mind-made are they.
If one speaks or acts with pure mind,
because of that, happiness follows one,
even as one’s shadow that never leaves.”

With your Bodhicitta and wisdom, you provides us the effective methods to practice the Dharma to avoid from suffering and enjoy the life with balanced mind so that we can live a happy life this life and get the ultimate bliss next life in the Pure Land.

I would like to express my deep gratitude to you for your kindness and compassion.

May you and your consort have a good health and live long for the sake of all sentient beings.

I also rejoice in the good deed of Mat Bich Hue who has translated your article into English. Her translation supports to flourish your teaching all over the world to uphold the Dharma.

May Mat Bich Hue get all legitimate wishes and get joyful which arises on the path to enlightenment.

May all sentient beings get the happiness of Buddha’s nature.

    Om Mani Padme Hum

    Dear Holy Guru

    I am Tantra Haramitra

i thank you for your teaching, and give thanks for your outpouring of knowledge.

The most significant section of your words were when you spoke about if I lack strength I should look to others for strength. This spoke heaps to me.

I have been struggling a lot recently with PTSD and my studies have suffered and I have lost my way and strength. One of you followers has become my dear friend and she never gave up on me. She kept supporting me and in time I gained strength from that to enable me to spend more time within the teachings of the Dharma.

i am not yet right but my learning has started to increase and therefore my sickness is slowly abating.

for the first time in many weeks I spent time chanting and I felt my strength returning little by little.

I thank you, Holy Guru and your follower for not giving up on me.

May the holy Guru have good health and live long for the benefit of all sentient beings. May all sentient beings achieve the happiness of Buddha ‘s nature.

    Om mani padme hum
