SOMETHING ABOUT HAPPINESS (Đôi điều về hạnh phúc)

SOMETHING ABOUT HAPPINESS (Đôi điều về hạnh phúc)

SOMETHING ABOUT HAPPINESS

Preface: I wrote this article in Russian so you cannot read in English as usual. That’s why I have translated it into Vietnamese for your understanding. What pushed me to write in the language of the Land of Birches? It’s because President V.Putin reportedly visited a Tibetan tantric monastery in the capital of autonomous Siberia Republic in Russia. In front of many tantric practitioners, Putin pledged to give whole-hearted support to the development of Vajrayana in his country, which has touched the heart of a Tantric master like me. In return, I wrote this article as a gift offered from a Vietnamese tantric practitioner…

Dear readers,

I am happy and successful and I pray for everyone to obtain similar achievements. But please don’t think these achievements are reaped easily. I took a hard time before getting fruits.

In the past, I only did for myself and thought of myself. This made my life boring and meaningless, thus I had to leave Danang for Ho Chi Minh City. This new move brought me more money but my life remained tough and suffocated. I could not figure out what made me like this no matter how many ups and downs I’d gone through.

Once again, I decided to change my life. This time, I moved to live in a mountainous village, namely Phuoc Thanh in Ba Ria – Vung Tau province.  Located near the imposing Dinh Mountain, this village has beautiful natural scenery that has kept us live here until now.

It has been eight years since we live in here. So many difficulties and insufficiencies from the beginning of our residence since I quitted my job. We were even lack of food and drinking water. Wonderfully, we still stayed optimistic during tough times for this is our choice.

SOMETHING ABOUT HAPPINESS

Why is this? Before this new big change, I came to have a strong belief in the Buddha through researching his teachings and methods of practice. His doctrine points out that the human being can live happily in both present and future if they have goals and ideals in alignment with the Buddha’s teachings. All are encompassed in a conception or methodology as it may be called “Dharma”. Stepping on the path of the Buddha, our life has become better. We treasure every moment of this precious life.

You may ask: “What is Buddhist Dharma?”  Simply it is:

First: Chanting the “Mantra”:

What is mantra? It’s the quintessence of the universe.

When to read? Following your footstep. Move your left foot forward reading “Om Mani”, followed by right foot with “Padme Hum”. You should recite it silently!

Second: Praying for all sentient beings in daily life activities as follows:

Before falling asleep, we pray: “May all sentient beings achieve the absolute state”… and similarly with the rest 16 activities.

A saying of famous Russian astronaut Yuri Gagarin comes across my mind: “One for all. All for one”. Here, Gagarin just thought about the human being while the Buddha taught us to expand our care and love to beings of all realms, not only human but also from the hell, hungry ghosts and animals. Overall, thanks to the unity of body, speech and mind in all of my daily activities, I can live a happy life and truly satisfy with each and every present moment.

The celebration of the Buddha’s manifestation in this Saha world is coming. I reverently express my deep, sincere devotion to him. I’ll always bear in mind his teaching: “Put your belief in me without understanding me means you are defaming me.”

There’s a Russian idiom saying that: “We need examine what we personally believe”. Yes, that’s what I have believed and examined. The more I look through into it, the more I believe. After eight years of practicing Buddhist Dharma, I’ve got all I wished now. Sometimes when I met my friends, they curiously asked me how I could keep my young look and good form like that. Good form is not what I meant but this very truth about Buddhist Dharma is all I’d love to share with you.

May all sentient beings make right decision on their destiny!

  1. Tantra Mahadeva says:

    Greetings Holy Guru

This is such a happy article and I thank you for this. It is heartening to know that life can seem difficult to us but if we stay established in Buddha’s teachings and honest practice then we can face life situations like a stoic. You went through rough patch but this brought you closer to pure practice and dharma. Now you reap the benefits of your practice. May you always help others to see this clarity.

Its true that we need to come out of our self centered thoughts and think about the wellbeing of our fellow travelers on this path. Reciting the mantra can help us clear the mind energy and support our progress on the path.

  6. Mật Diệu Hằng says:
    Dear holy Guru,
I am delighted to read your article: “something about happiness”. I am rejoice in your virtue, compassion and the wise light you show us how to get the true happiness in this short life.
I have learnt that the problem with worldly happiness is that it never lasts because the objects of happiness are impermanent. A happy event is soon followed by a sad one; even we get successful in life with fame or money, pleasure or joy, there is still hidden the potential sadness and failure. Unfortunately, most of us go through life looking for things to “make us happy.” But our worldly happiness is never permanent, so we keep looking.
The true happiness that is a factor of enlightenment is not dependent on objects but it is a state of mind cultivated through spiritual practices. Because it is not dependent on an impermanent object, it does not come and go. A person who has cultivated the true happiness still feels the effects of transitory emotions, happiness or sadness, but appreciates their impermanence and essential unreality.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama said, “If you want others to be happy practice compassion; and if you want yourself to be happy practice compassion.” That sounds simple, but it takes practice. We are so lucky to meet you in such a short life and get the guidance from you to develop compassion, bodhichitta and wisdom daily with the easy and effective methods to practice along with our daily activities. It is pure mind yoga.
In addition, you teach us the way of that worldly enjoyment goes hand in hand with Dharma happiness, we appreciates the temporary enjoyment and happiness with the gratitude to be a Buddhist aiming for the true happiness made by the benefit for self and others in harmony with the two factors of bodhicitta and wisdom.
Thank you so much for sharing your own story to prove the countless benefit of practicing the Dharma with compassion and wisdom. You help us have a strong faith in the path of liberation under your guidance.
May you and your consort have a good health and live long to uphold the Dharma for the sake of all sentient beings.
I also like the English version translated by Mat Hue Phap. It supports to flourish your teachings all over the world.
May Mat Hue Phap’s legitimate wishes come true soon and get joyful on the path to enlightenment.
May all sentient beings achieve the happiness of Buddha’s nature.
    Om Mani Padme Hum.
  7. Mô Phật!

Mật thúy rất hoan hỉ với thiện hạnh dịch bài viết của vị Thầy sang tiếng Anh của huynh Mật Huệ Pháp cầu nguyện cho huynh luôn tin tấn thực hành pháp để được tha lực hộ trì cầu mông tất cả chúng sanh luôn có duyên lành biết đến chánh pháp OM ah hum.

  8. TantraMikaya says:
dear holy guru. I read this article with great interest. In your article with your beautiful photos you have impressively taught us how comprehensive and valuable the Dharma is. Worldwide, people trust Buddhism and the Dharma. Whether in Russia, Tibet, Vietnam, India and many other countries. In Europe too, Buddhism becomes more influential as a religion and philosophy of life. High technology and the pursuit of profit have also made people sick. Many people longed for compassion, peace and love. Here in Europe, there are now diseases such as the burn-out syndrome and the realization that there is another form of happiness. What does happiness mean for each of us? How can we get that happiness? There are an infinite number of seminars here. The lesson of all these seminars is the Buddhist idea. Liberation from suffering and enlightenment that means daily practice and meditation. It’s hard work but after hard work we can reap the rewards. When people say that money means happiness for them, these people are on the wrong track. We achieve true happiness through ourselves and following the Dharma. You holy Guru teach us the Dharma and we must work independently and meditatively strengthen our mind and practice the bodhicitta. Happiness dwells in ourselves and we can free ourselves from suffering and live in the here and now and with hard work help ourselves to find our happiness in the true values. If we pay attention to each other and give joy, this joy will make us happy. and accompany us on the right path of enlightenment. May be happy and free from Suffering. May our holy Guru life long for the sake of all sentient beings. May all beings achieve the happiness of Buddha s nature

Today is important day for Buddhist community of India. As per texts on this day Emporor Ashoka accepts Buddhism after the victory over Kalinga & turned the wheel of Dhamma that day is celebrated as Ashoka Vijaya Dashami in India. After many years, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, the father of Modern India, turned this Dhamma wheel on dated 14th October 1956 on the occasion of Ashoka Vijaya Dashami with his 5 lacs followers. In 3 days about 8 Lacs of followers accepted Buddhism that time on dated 14 – 15 – 16th Oct.1956; unfortunately Dr. Ambedkar attained nirvana after 2 months on dated 6th December 1956.  Today is Ashoka vijaya Dhashmi. About 25 to 30 Lacs people including Buddhist Scholars, Ven. Monks, World Buddhist leaders & other Important people visited here to pay homage to the Blessed Lord & Dr. B. R. Ambedkar.

The main achievement is thousands / Lacs of people come here to accept Buddhism thru of the country & from the world. There is no misbehaviour in crowd, no pick-pocketing, people purchase lots of Buddhist literature here. No other items allowed to sale in this function, only the Buddha’s literature, Dr. Ambedkar’s literature, & other Buddhist scholars literature including the Buddha’s beautiful pictures, statues, music CD’s, films etc. Many Musicians & Singers performing their art based on Buddhism songs.

I wish you all happy Ashoka Vijaya Dashami to you all.

Dear Guru thanks for sharing this article.

I understand we should not blindly have faith in anything. We must understand the things and then start believing in it after practicising dharma. It’s been wonderful that after practicising for eight years my Guru’s life has been changed and is much more comfortable and our Guru experiences happiness in each and every movement of his life. Our Guru life has been dedicated to spread Dharma teachings to others and I feel joy in our Guru’s Dharma happiness.

May the Dharma conference held today by our Guru may shower Peace and Happiness to people attending it, and they may learn Guru’s teaching.

May Guru and his consort live long and protected and get enlightened.

May all beings and Guru’s disciples be free from suffering and get enlightened.

    Dear Holy Guru,

My greetings to you and to all the chanhtuduy readers.

Another wonderful article that tickles me. Having been committed to the dharma is somewhat a bit hard during the first phase of learning what it is. Intense focus, determination, and full heartily understanding is required. Along the way of being inclined to it, you’ll get to touch with a lot of struggles that challenges your strength on how tightly you’re to the teachings of the Buddha. I honestly admit, there were times when I almost lose my way to it. But having been embrace with authenticity of the teaching, I managed to hold on tight into my my grip.

Each time I feel down, alone on my own sorrow, I always do what the holy Guru taught me to do, walking meditation with the Mani Mantra “Om Mani” on the left, “Padme Hum” on the right step. In a way I came to touched with my own thinking by being aware of what I am doing through my steps. In that matter, I feel being out from my troubles.

Luckily, a friend of mine, Mat Dieu Hanh, never missed a day giving me messages of greetings. And it is such a wonderful thing realizing how great it is.

The Dharma is indeed a gift to all who are willing to embrace it. It is truly the light that gives direction to those who missed their footstep on the right path

May all sentient beings be enlightened and be touched by the phenomenal teachings of the Buddha. May all of us enjoy peace, love and be out from sufferings
