Letter from India: Memories of my Vietnam visit 2019 (part 1)

Reverend Gurujee

I bow before your Lotus Foot

Om Mani Padme Hume

I do not know how to start with thebeginning less and endless story of my visit to our Guru’s place in Vietnam along with my wife and moved very many places including a hill station,  Dalat which has plenty of natural beauty and saturated with heavenly boon and bounty of spiritual blessings on this planet earth. One may consider me a fool who is unable to record the trivial account of a simple tour, but for me it was not a simple visit of a place rather it was a pilgrimage as the Buddha and the Guru along with our Dhamma friends were with us. And we were not simply travelling rather making a pious Charika for the welfare of all the sentient beings as the Buddha was in habit to do it and had asked his disciples to do it again and again for the benefit of many and for the welfare of many. This time the recipient was me, my wife and some other Dhamma friends. Secondly, such occasions does not start in vacuum or in isolation but are predestined, as every things of the world are interconnected and preconditioned through the Karmic link, if not in this life then from our previous life. This is the message of the theory of Buddha’s Dependent Origination as it becomes clear from the Jataka storieswherein we find that even the Buddha has taken several births along with the fellow beings and peoplewho had connections in the past births. That is why I termed this memory the beginning less and endless story. Since I am not a clairvoyant and incapable to trace the record the of our previous life and even the present one, that is the reason I am at fix how to start with this beginning less story which is destined to be the endless one.

“When We Met”

However, I would like to start with the story of my friendship with Rose Tran as it is she who got me connected with the Guru and thus played a dominant role in changing the track of my life from mundane to spirituality, from gross to subtle, sensuality to super consciousness, and has paved the path for me from Samsara to Nirvana. Since this story is again very long and strangeand I have started writing that special episode of my life separately which is again very interesting and intriguing, I will never like to traverse my writing journey to the detailed story of Rose Tran that is the meeting with herentitled “When We Met”. It is another fact that without this our story will remain empty and cannot get a start. So in short this endless story has mundane beginning with Rose Tran and meets with the Guru in Vietnam with several ups and downs of emotions, perspective, cause, conditionand confusions. The Buddha has asked not to concentrate on the dark side of any act, event, story or feelings as the end in dark, dismal and and disparaging account of life and generate suffering. Following his basic teachings I would like to portrait our last visit to Vietnam. Knowing it well that pain and ennui are inevitable in the life as even the black colour too gives a grandeur to a classical picture. In the same way my story too has some upheavals of feelings emotions and uncertainty was lurking in the mind of an earthly being named Avinash Kumar Srivastava too have been incorporated in this story.

The last year my visit of Vietnam was full of uncertainty because of No Objection Certificate. On 13th February 18th night I was assured by the Registrar for issuing it. By 09 PM I informed it to Rose Tram, my friend. By 04 Pm on 14th I received the to and fro ticket for Hochi MinhAirport Vietnam by our kind and compassionate Guru, and mailed by my friend Rose. On 16th morning I received the Visa as it was too managed by our Holy Guru. In anticipation of issue of the No Objection Certificate I left for Vietnam, with throbbing heart for untoward incident in my service career, at 03 Pm by the Jet Airways. Till 16 mornings the uncertainty was lurking on my visit. Since it was predestined I could attend the conference by the grace of the Guru.

My recent visit to the Guru’s place is also shrouded in the cloud of uncertainty, fear, confusion and dilemma. It is a fact, that such short of uncertainty was not there this time as it was in my previous visit.I have committed so many mistakes in my previous life and still continue to do the same; upheavals have become the unmistakable part of my life. Perhaps this is the reason the Buddha has said life is drops of tear. Had all the tears been collected, that human beings have shed till today, itwould have become an ocean. But at the same time he says these tears can be wiped out. In the same vain our Holy guru says for enlightened beings there is no suffering. Guru’ unique statement hinges on towards two state of human life, one of ignorance and other is of enlighten being. And these two states of existence indicate two types of reality or truth, empirical and transcendental. In empirical state due to the veil of ignorance without knowing the divine design and desire we interpret the right thing in a wrong way. If it goes contrary to our wishes we suffer, and conducive to our desire we feel happy. My mental agony was partially due to my ignorant based mistakes and partially because of not understanding Guru’ narratives. But before I create more question marks and tension in the inquisitive mind of myDhammafriends to know further the mystery of my Vietnam visit I think it proper to start with the story of my arrival to Guru’s place and unfold the episodes of my tour.

VietNam airport

Tantra Sutradaka and his wife in India

As per our prescheduled Programme we started from my Patna houseand reached at the Patna airport. Very smoothly the check in process was complete. We became mentally free as our luggage will be given to me at the Ho Chi Minh Airport. Suddenly we heard the announcement that our Jet Airways is delayed by half an hour. Soon the climate started changing. After an hour the airbus arrived but our scheduled gate No. 2, through which we had to enter into the air ground, was engaged by the Mumbai Passengers. I became perplexed and made enquiry regarding the gate but in vain. Out of sudden we heard our name was announced along with other Delhi Passengers. We turned our heads in other direction. I found a person in blue uniform coming toward us and calling some other passengers. He collected us and took us to the runway through a shortcut way. We were a few in number say about 25/30. The Air bus was nearby. In an unusual way we board on the plain and were welcomed by Airhostess with mechanical smile on their faces as it is their routine work. We sat comfortably on our respective seats. The seats of the air bus were 75%empty. Soon it started and became air born. The climate started changing very fast. Dark black clouds were gathering in the sky. I became very concern of it and started remembering our Holy Guruas the plain was getting jerk and jolts. Soon it came to normal, but the climate was the same, rather it started drizzling. Since I was tired I slept soon for about one and half hour. Out of sudden our plain received jerk and jolt thrice. All passengers became scared and apprehensive of something wrong. Latter on it was informed that now our plain can’t land on the Delhi Airport because of the foul weather. Heavy black clouds were in the sky and it was raining too. Now our air bus moved towards Jaipur Airport. After half an hour it arrived at Jaipur but there also it was not allowed to land as there was no space. The plains scheduled to fly were not allowed because of thick clouds and heavy rain. Then our plain moved towards Amritsar Airport. I was afraid of some untoward incidents.  I started chanting the Manimantra and praying to our Guru for our rescue. In the meantime a news/ rumor spread that fuel of the plain is running short. I was in continuously in touch of my friend. She was continuously sending the instruction to have patience and read an article of Chantudui.com, pray to the Guru and chant the Manimantra as well as be in her touch. But the power of my mobile was running short. I put off the mobile, closed my eyes, left my future on our Holy Guru and started chanting the Manimantra. After some time, perhaps by 09 P.M. our plain received two sever jolt but it landed on the Amritsar Airport 09 P M. We took sigh of relief. Soon the process of refueling started and thereafter maintenance. It took about one and half hour of time. It was 10.30 in the night and our flight from Delhi to Bangkok Airport was at 10. 30. My heart throbbing was increased I became pessimistic about my going to Vietnam. I started praying to our Guru and chanting the Manimantra. My friend asked me to post comment on any article but the power of my mobile ran short.I was left with no alternative but ask for help from our Holy Guru. I kept on doing so. Finally our plain Flown to Delhi and we arrived there by 11P.M.In the way I discussed my problem to our co-passengers. Two of them had to catch the same flight.  Both consoled me not to worry about. They asked to contact the ground officer for any short of help. We came out of the plain hurriedly and found one Air Hostess waiting for us. She informed the time of the flight is rescheduled but we have only half an hour left. She led us to the check in place very hurriedly. We were virtually running. She got our check in process fast.  We ran to the entry gate running along with her. Finally we entered into the air bus. After sitting on our allotted seat we took a sigh of relief. I thanked the Buddha and the Guru for averting the problem. But the problem was not averted entirely.  Though we had seven hours of time at Bangkok Airport but it was a misnomer. The difference between the Indian time and Bangkok time is of 2.50 hours and we were thinking of Indian time. Actually our time had become short because of the change of nation but we did not have this notion.  We were relaxing after check in process. Our scheduled gate of entry was E. 5 and we were sitting away from there charging our mobile, relaxing and making fun. After 3 hours a good sense prevailed in my wife’s mind and asked me to go towards the gate No. E 5. I reluctantly accompanied her. There we found that the passengers of our plain were going to board on the Air Bus. I saw my watch. It was still 2. 50 hours earlier. I enquired of and found it was the same plain, I have to board in. Out of sudden I realized the difference of the time and we came in the boarding line. After 10 minutes, we were in the plain. It was Guru’s grace that we came to the boarding gate and got the bus. However, our problem did not come to an end. On arrival on Ho chi minh Airport I had to deposit 50 Dollars for on arrival visa. But my Dollars were in the bags that were lying in the plain. Unless I go out and collect our luggage it was difficult to get the Dollars and we were not in position to collect the luggage. I contacted my friend but she too was helpless to help us. I was perplexed a lot. I could not think what to do and what not to do. I started chanting the Mani Mantra. Then I started remembering my Holy guru for help. I sat down on the chair. Out of sudden I heard the name of my wife and me. We went to the counter. I narrated our problem. The lady sitting there smiled and suggested to give me the Indian currency of 50 Dollars. We were given our stamped passport. We took a sigh of relief. We came out of that area, collected our luggage, came out and found Rose Tran along with her husband waiting for me with smiling and happy expressions. Soon the care arrived. It took us to the place where many delegates were assembled for going to the conference place. My many Dhamma friends were there. We became to meet each other. The conference provides a very nice occasion to meet the old friends and likeminded people in addition to the exchange of ideas and views as well as receive the blessings of the Guru and the Buddha. It creates pleasant and spiritual atmosphere and takes the devotees away from the mundane imperial reality to the transcendental world of Pure Mind Buddhist wisdom where there is no tinge of pain, ennui, sorrow and agony and we bath in the spiritual rain that makes us pure, pious and fills innocence in us. We are thankful to our Guru for showering forth the ambrosia of benediction on us unconditionally. My wife was bewildered to see the stream friendliness, cooperation and sweet relationship among us.

In my college (India)

The bus arrived, we along with many other delegates, boarded into it and we started for the conference place. Our bus stoppedabout 25 Km. before the conference place where there was a big shopping complex. We got down there and made purchasing of daily needs for two days as at the conference place there is no such shops as it was a resort near by the sea sore wherein the tourists come and spend their holidays by retiring in the lap of the nature and the natural beauty. I too made a few purchasing, only those that we need in our everyday life. After about 45 minutes we started for our conference place.

We arrived there perhaps after an hour. As I said earlier the place was on the bank of the ocean, calm and quite, abundance of natural beauty, helpful in generating the divine enjoying consciousness and was capable to take away all the pain, agony, and bitter memories of the past. There we met our kind and compassionate Holy Guru and became happy from within in a natural way. There I came to learn that our Guru was in touch with the each and every minutes our journey and it tragedy and comedies. He was pained  when we were in trouble and shorted out themeither by weeding out the thorns of the way of or by generating in us the patience, art and acumen to tackle with the adverse situation and by  making emerge the practical wisdom in us. This was the reason that even in the deep distress we took the cudgel, never lost the optimism, remain in present and tried to fight out the perilous situation in a positive way. This was simply because of the piousrays of protection spread on us in order to secure our peaceful and pleasant journey. I am grateful to our Guru, Guide and Guardian who is endowed with the family and fatherly affection for all of his disciples.

Song Nguyen Tantra House ‘s Dharma Festival 2019

After reaching to the conference place fortunately we happened to meet our Holy guru, as per destined. He was happy to see us. Splendid smile and the spiritual glaze were gracing his face. Unprecedented joy and pleasure, calm and composure, as well peace and comfort we felt at the very moment of his meeting that continued till we reached our homeland. He enquired of about our journey. Knowing it well he was mentally connected with us in our hazardous journey we did not spell out our peril rather we checked our expression of gloomy experience through our face and pretended to be happy. Honestly speaking this courage I received from him after becoming his disciple.

Now I want to conclude the first part of my story that started two years ago in March 2017 in Kolkata University with a relationship with a man named Rose of Thailand and culminated in the meeting with our Holy Guru. This is, in brief, an endless story which will continue till the end of my life . Since the story is destined to be very long , I am presenting only the first part of it. Next will be the second part wherein the vivid narration of the conference and thereafter our pilgrimage of the Dalat City will be depicted. Though Da lat city is a hill station and a place of tour and travel but for me it was a pilgrimage as our Holy guru was with me. Where ever the footsteps of our Guru leaves its mark the place becomes pious for me.

Om Mani Padme Hum.

May all sentient beings be happy.

Long live our Guru along with his consort happy and healthy for the happiness and pleasure of all the sentient beings.

I bow before the lotus feet of my Guru

      With Profound regard and reverence

  6. Dear Tantra Sutradaka,

I am delighted to read your article. I am happy for you that you overcame the difficulties in coming to Vietnam due to the blessings of the holy Guru.

I am so moved when knowing that whenever you got troubles, you still keep your firm faith in Guru,  Buddha and it is your solid belief and devotion towards Guru that helped you get good results of having a safe trip to Vietnam and taking part in the dharma conference. It is your case to prove that the devotion towards Guru is the most beneficial means to bring practitioners the success in life and the holy fruit on the spiritual path.

The holy Guru and the lord Buddha are always present everywhere in the ten directions. Although their compassion are vast enough to take care of all beings, getting their blessings or not depends on our devotion and our pure perspectives towards them. The Guru represents the Buddha,  Dharma and Sangha,  the Guru is the key to open the castle of happiness and liberation. The Guru himself occurs in this world with different appearance in order to company with all beings. He even sacrifices all his life to guide all beings to free from the samsaric prison and help them get the liberation of blissful Pure Land. His compassion and kind to all beings is beyond words. We are so ignorant if we do not count on him,  if we do not take refuge to Guru,  Buddha,  Dharma and Sangha. Being guided by the Guru in this life is the luckiest, the most grateful and the most blessed.

May Guru and his consort have a good health and live long for the sake of all sentient beings.

Thank you so much for your meaningful article.

May you get all your righteous wishes and be at ease on the path to enlightenment.

May all sentient beings achieve the happiness of the Buddha ‘s nature.

    Om Mani Padme Hum.

    Tantra Sutradaka,

It was so nice to read “Letter From India: Memories of my Vietnam Visit 2019 (Part 1)” I am sorry that you had mishaps along your journey but it warmed my heart to see that even in times of trouble you stood vigilant in you spirituality and in your belief in Guru. Guru devotion is the foundation of Thanh Tri and is also equivalent to the building of a home. Without a strong foundation, the house will crumble. The same can be said about our spirituality. Without proper Guru devotion our spirituality will crumble and no real progress can be made.
Thank you very much for sharing your experiences with all of us.

May Guru live a long and healthy life for the sake of all sentient beings

May all sentient beings achieve the happiness of Buddha’s nature

May the global pandemic caused by the Corona virus soon end

    Om Mani Padme Hum
