Letter to Disciples No.310: A FEW OF MY WORDS ( Thư gửi các trò 310: VÀI LỜI TÂM SỰ )

Dear disciples!
This morning, I had coffee after breakfast as usual. The outside scene was as gorgeous as it is. The space, environment, flower garden and resting places, still all emanated the color of purity. Maybe I didn’t think much about a sensitive issue: contribution to the maintenance of website and the making of offerings to Dharma treasure (Dharma-ratna) which I and some chief disciples had recently analyzed in articles and Zalo groups of Song Nguyen Tantra House.

The space, environment, flower garden and resting places, still all emanated the color of purity

However, Mat Tuyet Mai lately ran against my teaching by making offering through bank transfer. Her action displeased me so I reproved her and asked Mat Vien to return the money. Previously, Mat Chanh Hoa made same fault! Mat Ngo Tanh alone was allowed to make offerings but due to transferring to wrong beneficiary, he was also reproved and returned the money.
Dear disciples!
I can realize your negative thoughts arising before, during and after the contribution to the website maintenance and making offering to Dharma treasure (similar to economic term “franchise”), thus want to prevent them right from the beginning by refusing contribution activities until I see your changes through reading and commenting on open articles. This aims to remove your sinful feeling and attitude considering these activities as a “burden” and kind of “alms”. I’ve told you once that after the entire overhaul of the central Song Nguyen Tantra House (as you see now), I feel satisfied and content, want no more.

I feel satisfied and content, want no more

With regard to Dharma, I’ve found out six spiritual methods of practice and written over 2,000 articles. In 2019, I’ve finished a research on “Psychological Effect of Thanh Tri Yoga on Stress and Anxiety” which brings a solution to promote personal well-being, reducing social psychological burden for people. I need not “strive” for more but relax and focus on practicing Dharma, improving my spiritual level in the coming years as a preparation for the trip to the Western Pure Land. Therefore, you should not think in direction that this is what I want or that is what I need. Frankly speaking, things I want or need, supposedly, cannot be met by you or even all people in this world: Sunyata and Sopadhisesa-Nirvana!

I’ve found out six spiritual methods of practice and written over 2,000 articles

Dear disciples!
Now you no longer have log-in account for reading; the door of “Vimalakirti’s room” is closed, leaving only a small corner of the garden open with newly-planted flowers and limit access to the viewer. If you don’t value your opportunity by giving comments, the door will close forever. From now to 2025, the door of Chanhtuduy.com will close to all readers and followers, just open to official members. Currently, I am opening it wide, waiting for foreign readers and followers as per my vow: “Spreading application Bodhicitta in every direction”. Writing these lines, suddenly my heart touched when see foreign readers and followers who live thousands of miles away and speak different languages are reading and commenting on chanhtuduy.com every day. How touched to see their short comments without punctuation, paragraph or capitalization! Poor them! Many don’t know English, thus have to read and comment through Google translation. That’s why I endeavor to learn English to reply them in some sentences or words in order to encourage them. Let think, at this age of 60, why should I need learn English while I already have many disciples excellent in using English language like Mat Hue Phap, Mat Dieu Hang, Mat Hong Quang, Mat Tu, Mat Kinh, Mat Chanh Tan, Mat Khai Nguyen, Mat Kha Phuc, Mat Tan Giac, Mat Hong Tuyen…, not to mention other languages such as Chinese, Japanese, Korean… .

The door of Vimalakirti’s room is closed

No way! If I don’t learn English, how can foreign followers know that I give them my attention? I can see how glad they are when receiving my response, even just one word or phrase, which encourages them to continue to read and comment! So when I say “Song Nguyen Tantra House sets sail [across the ocean]”, if I don’t sail it by myself, how can I proclaim loudly: “We have landed!”, letting disciples behind sailing strenuously? Absolutely not! I need set myself as an example to you, even though more or less, poor or great! One day, I will lay down on bed, my body is weak and my breath difficult, but deep in my heart, I’m proud that I’ve always been accompanying you in aspects of body, speech and mind..

Song Nguyen Tantra House sets sail

Dear disciples!
I’ve promised you that I will never leave you until I cannot be patient or you want to leave. If you know the stories of Mat Hue Nhu, Mat Hong Tuyen, Mat Phe Ro and Mat Hai, you will understand me. However, I am now an old man who is facing the Messenger of impermanence. I wish nothing other than seeing the progress of you, both foreign and local. Nonetheless, in Vajrayana tradition, the follower and disciple should take Guru devotion as their foundation of enlightenment, following the teaching of Master Asvaghosa. I am afraid that I have “many benedictions but little virtue”, “high position but little talent”, “high awards but little merit”, thus I’ve chosen to close the dharma door so that I don’t regret being unable to fulfill all articles in the “spiritual contract” signed with you.

Guru devotion is the foundation of enlightenment

Therefore, I will wait till July 2020 to see if any disciple failing to practice the mind dharma “Pretty piglet”, I will present their names in front of Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva and at the same time, revoke the mind dharma “Meditation on Bodhicitta”. I will forever close the door of chanhtuduy.com to those who are lazy in doing comments on open articles from now to July 2020, because these open articles will be closed then. I will set up five groups specialized in providing dharma documents. Each group includes one person with private email in order to avoid the recent case of Vu Van Hai who relied on acquaintance relationship to ask for help! Five disciples will take this task: each person is responsible for a region; he will get emails from readers every day, then send articles as per their request for reading and commenting. I also open English articles until early 2025, then close as the Vietnamese ones.

Mind dharma “Pretty Piglet”

Dear disciples!

Song Nguyen Tantra House (ITA)

More than anyone of you, I’ve been contemplating on impermanence every day. I can’t endure with you forever with the physical health and spirit of a man aged 60. I am now reading and approving comments each day (in Vietnamese and English); revising and putting title for learner’s articles; teaching followers and disciples; defending our organization from evil monks, demons and evil forces; organizing Dharma conference and affairs; traveling for dharma propagation; not to mention I myself write and post articles and run the whole ITA. On the other hand, I also have to take care my daily life. Therefore, from now to 2025, I will gradually remove those who are kind of “fourth person” in the “Stable Keeper” Sutra out of Song Nguyen Tantra House (ITA). Hope the rest ones, even though a small number left, will fulfill their tasks with me to please the Amitabha Buddha in the Western Pure Land. For those who are temporarily interrupted in their cultivation path or suffering bad karmas caused by their current wrong deeds, I will endeavor to teach you in next lives in various wonderful incarnations.

Western Pure Land

Hence, my long life span not only depends on your prayer but my best encouragement also comes from your serious attitude, assiduousness and particularly Guru devotion by practicing Thanh tri mind dharmas that I’ve taught. These are my words to you which can be considered as Song Nguyen Tantra House’s teachings for future generations. May all sentient beings attain the happiness of Buddha’s nature.
Om mani padme hum!

  8. Mật Giác Đăng says:

    Dear Guru,

I have read Letter to Disciples No.310: A few of my words”.

I am so touched with your words. I feel myself too small in front of the great compassion from you, the Pure Mind Guru who have devoted all own resources (in mind, vow, intellect, energy and finance) to the cause of spreading Dharma, benefiting sentient beings, in nearly a half of life. Until now, when ITA institute has brilliantly developed, both inside and outside, you still concern about the benefits and spiritual destiny of us and sentient beings. You granted wrathful Dharma to prevent us from unrighteous thoughts and wayward temperament in contribution to the website maintenance and making offering to Dharma treasure. You still endeavour in learning English regardless the old age for encouraging foreign learners and readers according to you vow “Spreading application of Bodhisattva in every direction”, also for setting an example for us to keep trying to join in “Song Nguyen Tantra House sets sail”.

For the very long past time, your striving is not for yourself, those such huge efforts are for benefits of others. And, the inconceivable benefits you has brought really an endless treasure for us, with your permission we no need to search anymore, just need to be awaken, diligent and grateful in collecting, we can use them for the rest of our lives. Therefore, I understand that you do not need to strive anymore because you already completed your merit and virtue, and because there is no one in this world, even if King Sakka is not able to meet your want or need – Sunyata and Sopadhisesa-Nirvana.

I am moved to tears when reading “One day…”. I will keep in mind your words. I will try to keep awaking, mindfulness, focus and diligence in rehearsing and practicing Thanh Tri mind dharma under your guidance to make for real my prayers for Guru’s health and long life span. May we, disciples and learners at ITA institute will put efforts to be the ones who following Guru to please the Amitabha Buddha in the Western Pure Land.

May Guru and your consort have good health and live long for the sake of all sentient beings.

May The covid-19 pandemic will be soon eliminated.

May all sentient beings achieve the happiness of Buddha’s nature.

    Om Mani Padme Hum.

  9. Satish Kumar Borkar says:

    Dear Guru.

I have read your article dated 01.04.2020 in English language. The concern of disciples and worry of their not commenting over your well posed articles is visual. Disciples or followers seems to be thrifty that are not responding in enough numbers. And for the reasons similar you are going to run the website till July 2020. Yes, the Guru has his role of awakening the devotees in right direction. Now, it’s all depends on the followers socialization to mobile it furthermore.

You have also need to pay heed on self care and personal attention at this mature age of 60 yrs.
Almost all the stages of this pure and ultimate path have been attained by you of a particular thought of school of Buddhism. It ultimately will help the disciples to practice in that sphere for gaining good in this same lives. Certainly sir, you have arrived at the conclusion to take only a few of them who oath to ride on correct method.

No doubt, the sermons given by you will encourage the coming generations to that distant east pure land of the earth too.
You have been rapidly grasping the essence of English language and beautifully using it in the writing please.

Thanking you Guru for valuable information depicted in this episode to the disciples and followers in Vietnam & abroad.
    Om Mani Padme Hum’ !
May all living beings be happy…🍁

  10. Tantra Lanidha (Ralph Keating) says:

    Dear Guru,

I bow my head to your lotus feet.  Guru’s merit is immeasurable.  May Guru and consort life long and healthy lives for the benefit of all sentient beings.

Thank you so much for being frank and direct with us.  Thank you for keeping the site here for followers like myself who do read your words and comment from the other side of the planet.  The opportunity allows me to feel closer to you than the many thousands of miles between us.  How fortunate to be able to read one’s Guru’s words anytime or even daily.  How many people can receive such a blessing?  I thank you wholeheartedly and will not waste this precious time and opportunity!!!

May all sentient beings be fortunate to find a true Guru in this life and follow him to the happiness of the Buddha Nature.

I was really touched when I read the your words. I think that distance does not matter! The mind is important. When you read and comment on chanhtuduy.com, or we are meeting each orther!

  11. Mật Huệ Pháp says:

    Dear Guru

Such touching words you gave us through this letter. Right in this hard time, it is you but not anyone else who keeps encouraging us and taking care of our spiritual life. Thanks to your compassion and skillful means (upaya), we are always bounded by your pure energy no matter in what circumstances. Such a lame comparison to compare our “mean, stingy mind” with your merits and virtues. I am moved to see your enthusiasm in learning English at this old age just for the only purpose – to encourage foreign followers. This is not to mention dozens of works need to be done a day such as expounding, writing articles, approving articles and comments, etc. These indicate your great Bodhicitta. I need read this article again and again as a reminder to make more endeavor in my path of cultivation. May I be more mindful and attentive so that I won’t lose the connection with Guru and Yidam and miss the opportunity to have a visa to the Western Pure Land in the future.

May Guru and your consort live long for the sake of all sentient beings

May all sentient beings have the sense of shame and modesty

May Corona pandemic soon be eliminated

  17. Tantra Sutradaka says:

    Revered Gurujee
     Om Mani Padme Hum
I bow before your lotus feet
For a few days my mind is not becoming calm, quiet and quavers less because of some untoward incidents in my personal life. Earlier I was perturbed because of irrational behaviour and action of the head of my institution. Now his sudden and premature demise has put me in a pool of sorrow as one remains friend and foe so long one is alive. But in his permanent absence, everything that happened in the past becomes meaningless. It appears to have happened but it does not bear any meaning. Now I do not have any malice for him and his works for simply two reasons. In absence of a person who will the receiver of my sorrow, ill will, hate and malice? It will come back to me only. This thought reminded me one event of The Buddha’s life. At one place He had to listen to hard words of hate origin and ill will. He was calm and quiet even in that adverse situation and splendid smile was playing on his cool face. When the person, accusing and abusing him could not understand His cool facial expression he was wonder struck and queer perturbing sensation with a question mark emerged in his angered but inquisitive  mind.  He asked the reason of that from the Buddha. The Buddha in his tranquil voice asked him, “If you give something to me and I do not accept, where will it remain? The person said it will remain with me only. Then the Buddha replied, all accuse and abuses are with you only as I have not accepted it.” I am not enlightened like the Buddha or our Holy Guru who can remain unperturbed in a hostile situation. It is my folly, that being a learner of Pure Mind Buddhism I could attain that much of prudence, art and acumen to remain peaceful amidst the hue and cry as well perturbing external situation . I sought for help from our kind and compassionate Guru like a child who for his every insecurity looks towards his parent for their self-assured and certain helping hands. In the midst of hope and despair of my uncertain future as well as the cool and fire of my mind set I remembered the words of our holy Guru and my friend Rose Tran to go through the articles shared by my Guru. Reading it and commenting on them fetches merit that helps one shaping one’s future in the brightest of the coiour. I too have realized that reading the article and commenting on them create the stream of positive consciousness and prepares the mind for the origin of pious and productive thoughts, which wards off one from the negativity of the external environment. It compelled to read an article send by my friend a little bit earlier and shared by our holy Guru.
It is again a fact I am still facing the same situation as his illegal successor has adopted the same stand behind not sending the Salary Bill with an intention to deny my seniority in the college. My friend has asked me to read the article again and again with a pious purpose to let me understand the importance of reading it. Their perusals lead me to realize that the regular reading of Guru’s sharing not only fetches merit to the reader, results in the fruition of positive bent of mind, brings peace and prosperity in life,  but also secures place in the Vimalkirti’s house, otherwise its door gets shut automatically. The second very important point is that  our holly guru is so compassionate that he taking all the religious endeavour for the sake for the spiritual development of his disciple, not for his own sake, even at his age of 60 years. His personal benefit never comes in between. And when one never understands all these he is pained. This present article is the compassionate anger of a spiritual father towards his ignorant Dhammaa children, who have failed to differentiate between gold and golden metals. In several article he has tried to make it clear that all that glitters is not gold. Unfortunately some of us could not check ourselves in repeating the same fault. This makes him exasperated.
Virtually the story starts with Mat Tuyet Mai, who against his teachings made offering through bank transfer that caused displeasure of our holy Guru, and he got his returned. In fact, such offerings are made by ignorant disciples for the atonement of their sins, which is normally seen in different religious sects and such ideas are propagated by the so called sly preachers. They utilize such offerings for their present and future comfort. In several articles our Kind and compassionate Guru has warned against such frauds. And this is the reason he is least interested in offerings but more interested that his disciples should read the articles shared by him, which will cast away the veil of ignorance and lead them to the ultimate goal of life, the Nibbana or liberation. But we ignorant disciple could not understand his basic thought inherent in his teachings and preaching. I exactly remember that also tried to offer some amount to our holy Guru, very humbly and smilingly, without hurting my sentiments he refrained me doing so. This was a new phenomenon for me. Earlier I had several experience of some spiritual or religious teachers of not only accepting the offerings rather arousing the sentiment of their devotees or disciples for doing so by narrating the mundane and supra-mundane benefits of such offerings here and hereafter. It was really a pleasant surprise for me. I am really grateful to my friend to connect me to such a noble and enlightened Guru.
In fact our holy Guru is endeavouring hard not only to uplift our mundane life but also to lead to our worldly consciousness towards the sublime consciousness of the Bodhichitta. For that he has taken the pains of pen down several hundred illuminating articles for the benefit of his disciples. The proper study and commenting on these are capable to enrich one with earthly plenty and pleasure as well as make spiritually enlightened. We must understand fully well that the protective hand of our Guru is shielding us from all sorts of hazards of life, here and hereafter. We must pay our gratitude to his compassionate fatherly protection by reading and commenting on his sharing’s. This will be the real tribute to his hard but kind and compassionate exercise for we disciples.
    Om Mani Padme Hum
May all the sentient being be happy and free of Corona virus
Long live our Guru along with his Consort.
I again and again bow before their lotus feet
